NWR: I'm sorry ladies - can I ask some questions about NYC/Penn Station

Original post by LuvMyAlfonse

I'm really nervous about going into the city by myself...

I was going to subway it to Chelsea but I think I may take a taxi since I'll be by myself. Does anyone know how long the ride is (from Penn)?

And the 6:33 train Penn to LI, is it really crowded? Do I have to get there early or something?

I'm sorry girls - thanks!

its still rush hour at that time and the trains are packed...i left my trial at 6:30 yesterday and took the train home and i had to stand and was all squished in. Dont worry you'll be fine

exactly what street do you know? i had to go around the chelsea area and got off on 23rd street which is just one stop from penn with the E train

It's at 26th b/w 7th and 8th..

someone yesterday told me to take the 1 downtown to 28th and walk 2 blocks south on 7th and make a left on 26th...

If you are that nervous I would just walk since its only 7 blocks. Save the money.

Take the escalator by the bathroom upstairs. Stay to the left to the exit for Penn. Take those elevators and go right to walk 'down' streets. Stay on the side of Penn since you'll already be on 7th.

Good luck!!!

yeah good idea, if you dont mind walking Jen, its not a bad walk at all...and its all numbers so even if you go in the wrong direction you'll notice right away, on the next corner when you see the street sign.

Oh Jen - I was reading your post saying walk, OK, she has no idea what she's talking about.

I'd rather walk - you ROCK! And thanks for the detailed directions!

I FM'ed you also since I didn't know if you saw that. LOL. I'm sooooo glad i don't have to do that commute anymore.

Going in for anything good?

Yup, that was me. It's only one stop away. But it is also a fairly short walk, taking a cab would be a waste of money. Either way you have absolutely nothing to be nervous about.

Good Luck!

lol. I wasn't looking for that I promise. Just wanted to be able to clarify just in case you had another question.

P.S. Make sure you bring an umbrella if you decide to walk, it may rain.
