NWR: I'm too fat for life insurance :(

NWR: I'm too fat for life insurance :(

I am so embarrassed. I lied on a life insurance form from work and made myself like 30 lbs thinner, I received my rejection letter in the mail yesterday saying I needed to get down to a particular weight and stay that weight for three months before reapplying for the life insurance policy. I had to confess to our office manager because she would be finding out any way.

I could just die The crazy part is, my cholesterol and blood pressure are great. I've been told I'm a very healthy obese person if that's believable. I work out 4-5 days a week and do not smoke or drink.

Thanks for listening.

That is HORRIBLE. No one should be denied life insurance because of weight. I am sure you were not denied health insurance.

I am so so so sorry.

sorry I dont know what to say- but it sounds like you are doing all the right things to be healthy- just hang in there and hopefully it will come off! Also maybe have your thyriod checked, I know my mom has a sluggish one and wasnt able to lose for years and they put her on synthroid and now finally after like 30 years she is losing

I am going to keep dieting and working out and reapply. I have health insurance. It's just so crazy, I never really thought about life insurance before!

I'm so sorry to hear that.

I agree with another poster - DEFINITELY get your thyroid checked - your T3, T4, TSH and Thyroid Autoantibody panel (a lot of docs omit that last one but it can tell if you have symptomatic subclinical Hashimoto's disease). My Mom has Hashi's and it really impeded her weight loss before she got synthyroid.

Also, another condition that makes you prone to weight gain is PCOS. My girlfriend just got diagnosed and got meds and she immediately shed about 40 lbs from the medication without even changing her diet, b/c it was a hormone issue.

I am sure you will be able to do it and get the insurance in the very near future.

Life Insurance should be based on your HEALTH.. not a number!
