sorry girls but im so confused .. i posted on the Pet boards and BHB about a coupon to have my puppy spayed she is almost 6 mos old .....so i called my vet and they want to see her for another check up prior to setting up a spaying appointment ...they also said when i started bringing her there said that they would wait to spay her at least till she is 6 mos old so now im doing my part to get a appointment.. well my dad watched her over this weekend and was shampooing his rugs in the house and called me to say she might be in heat, also FH aid he notice dark red drops on his pants and she had been climbing all over him .......is my dog in heat ??? has anyone dealt with this before and how much blood should i be looking for ? ( i haven't seen any ) ... it's so gross and now if she is in heat we have to wait to spay her about 3 more weeks

Re: NWR: in heat???
Yeah sounds like shes in heat. The first and last week there wont be much blood.. But during the second week youll just see some spots here and there.. Unless shes a large dog then its more than a few drops and you might wanna confine. And yes you will have to wait 2-3 weeks. You should try to make the appt for about a month from now.

Re: NWR: in heat???
Im not sure cause ive never seen a large dog in heat, but a breeder I know complains about it all the time and locks the dog in a tiled laundry room so she can mop the mess. They sell pads for dogs though, they kinda look like underpants for doggies.
