NWR: Inconsiderate friends (kinda long)

Original post by RGEC47

So FH and I have been TTC for about a year and a half, a medical issue forced us to make a decision to either try or wait an extra year and a half. So we decided to try. So during this really tough process more medical issues kept popping up, but we have been trying to stay positive although some days are harder then others.

Now, a very good friend of mine had been struggling with this issue for about 3 years, so when she finally conceieved I was honsetly very happy for her. When the baby was born one of the first things that she said to me is 'Girl you don't know what you're missing, this is the best feeling in the world, nothing can match my joy right now...' Which I thought was a little to much. I understand she is over the moon and I am happy for her, but I don't think she had to go that far! SO obviously when we left I was hysterical.

Since August; more serious complications have arisen and I have been having a very hard time with appts, medication, emotions, etc. Do you know that she has never, and I mean NEVER asked me how I was doing? Everytime we speak she is 'the baby did this, the baby did that, I am so happy I have him, it is the best feeling, I hope you can one day experience this!'

I don't know if I am being selfish, or to sensitive, but I thought true friends are supposed to understand and be a little bit more careful.

Sorry so long, I just needed to let this out.

im sorry its all very tough and complicated for you,.... i dont agree with what she said to you in the hospital at all, she made it seem like shes trying to convince yout o have a baby when in fact you want to but ar ehaving difficulties... but i could understand her being so involved with her baby and parenthood, its kinda like my wedidng its all i talk about lol, but this time it seems like she genuinely wants you to experience parenthood... i know its tough cuz its something you want and i pray that you concieve soon it will happen when the time is right

I am so sorry. You should talk to her and tell her how you feel

I know exactly how you feel. I am over 40 and don't thnk it's going to happen. People always say to me oh it's the best blah ..I know it is, but think before you speak. And most of the women that say it's the best secretly are frazzled lol. Then when I say I will be a step Mom, they say it's not the same. DUH. Needed a reminder thanks.

She should be a little more kind in that regard.

It's like me with my over 40 friends who are not married or even have a boyfriend, I don't talk wedding talk to them.

I'm going to be a step mom also, and I get the same response 'It's not the same...blah, blah, blah!'
Just don't give up hope, you never know. My aunt had her last child at 47, both did great, and my cousin is now 15. So try to stay positive and know that you are not alone.

Awwww im sorry you are going through this. Keep having faith and keep praying. You are not being selfish at all. I dont think your friend meant say what she said to you it in a mean way but she shouldve watched how she worded it Especiallly knowing she has been through this same issue and knowing what you are going through now. I think you should def tell her how you feel.

I dont think she means it but some people really need to learn when to put their foots in their mouths
