Ug. I'm applying for teaching jobs, and I just got an email from this school that I really thought I had really good chance with telling me that the reason they haven't gotten back to me is that a teacher at a related school is being 'excessed' (whatever that means) and they are probably going to have to hire her.
I'm SOOOOO frustrated right now. I've been applying and interviewing and whatever since January, and this was my best chance so far.... I was really hoping for this one.
I'm sure I'll get something eventually, I'm just exhausted with the whole process. Is it always this hard? My last two jobs were easy to get, but they weren't full time 'real' jobs.

Oh I'm sorry!
I have to start job searching soon too and I'm dreading it! It stinks because you get your hopes up and if you don't get it it just feels like NOTHING will ever work out!
But it will. You are going to land an awsome job that you're going to love. Just keep going! I know something will come up!!!!

I hate to tell you but it is ALWAYS like this. I have been hire at three different schools and cut because of budget issues and it is SO hard to find something permanent.

the teaching job search is EXHAUSTING!!! IT really is frustrating... it's just that soooo many people are going after so few jobs... you're lucky that you even get an interview. keep plugging.....
try out the city, there are some decent schools there (you just need to know how to look, i worked at one i was very happy at) and private schools. a lot of the ones on LI wait to hire people unti l they have a little more experience. something will come through for you, i'm sure! let me know if i can help! i did the city thing and the teaching assistant thing and now am in the district that i really wanted in a tenure track position!
GOOD LUCK!

I've been looking for a job since January as well but for a different field! I totally know how you feel...I've had that happen a couple of times where it feels like it went well and then you either hear bad news or just never hear back at all!! It's so unbelievable!! A lot of my friends are teachers and for them to find jobs is ridiculous too...one just got a job in Brooklyn this past March! It's so tough in this area but don't worry something will break for you soon...hang in there hun!!

I feel your pain mama. I am in a similar situation (looking for a guidance counselor position) and I totally understand the frustration. I have been looking since January. Everybody says give it time....it will happen. I am hope to pass this optimism on to you.... I hope it helps and Good Luck. Let us know when things start to look up... I am sure they will
