No, Im pretty certain that they dont. The place is beautiful though. It looks like a mansion. The only thing I didnt like about it was the size of the cocktail room. You can comfortable stand about 75 people in it, but they expect you to cram 150 in there!!! Other than that the place is immaculate and the food was yummy!!

I think it's safe to assume that they're going to charge more for a wedding than a Bat Mitzvah, but for 2 people I think $200 is still about right. If you want to spend less, you could always buy a gift instead. What about a really nice Star of David or even something from Tiffany's. I'm sure a 13 year old girl would appreciate that. Why don't you ask your FMIL what she thinks is appropriate to give?

I have one tomorrow too I was actually going to get a bond but I forgot all about doing it. A jewish friend told me that you are suppose to give a multipule of 18 b/c it means soemthing in the jewish religion. Not sure if that helps any especially comming from a catholic girl.

Just right, Crystal.
But wow, that's an awful lot of money to give. You are VERY generous.
Then again, this is Long Island, and people may expect you to cover your plate.
I will tell you, however, that only VERY CLOSE family members gave me even close to that amount for my Bat Mitzvah. But I grew up in CT, and we don't think about plate covering there.
Enjoy the Bat Mitzvah!

Isn't it like double chai or something like that? I think I gave $72 x 2 the last one I went to - I think it's lucky Jewish numbers...

Any multiple of 18 is considered lucky.
Double Chai is 18x2, or 36. Triple is 54, etc etc etc.
If anyone is interested in specifically WHY 18 is lucky, I'm more than happy to answer - FM. I don't want to bore anyone who doesn't want to know.

Cash is great.. or you can give a savings bond and spend the same amount and it looks like ALOT more.. my son got a tun of $500 ones for his baptism

You do not need to give a gift like you would for a wedding. This is a 13 year old kid, not a couple starting their family and life together. Multiples of 18 are good, but I wouldn't go overboard. A savings bond is typical as well.

also if you decide to give a savings bond you can give $100 but it will say $200 on it.. and then you can give a check for $18 ???

Re: NWR ... Jewish brides I have a question
I agree with Rachel...$200 is a lot, IMO.. You could give $118 or $136..even though it's not a multiple of $18, i've gotten a lot of gifts like that over the years.
