supposedly you can't really study for it, just take a bunch of practice exams, which i figured. i just ordered 'cracking the nystce: volume 2' which is supposed to help you learn how to take this test specifically and it got really good reviews. pretty cheap too. i'll let you know how it goes.

Just take the practice exams. You cant really study for them.
I thought I bombed the LAST because mine had alot of science questions and weird stuff....but thankfully I passed haha They are so random!

oh my gosh i am so glad you asked this. has anyone taken the cst multi subject? I have my masters in education and cannot pass the multi cst!!! i failed by one point numerous times and dont know what to do! i need a job and i need to pass!!! can anyone help?

When is your certification up? I thought you only needed the LAST and ATS-W to get certified (that was the old rules)
I just took the CST last week....I thought it was tricky. I won;t know my score until the end of March but I printed out the exam guide from their website and looked at the practice questions as well as the essay....which was very similar to the real test. I also bought a book from Barnes and Noble which I thought was helpful.

I took the LAST and ATS-W a couple of years ago. In my opinion the LAST is difficult. The ATS-W was ok. I took the CST multi subject 2 years ago and thought it was easy. I just took the Literacy CST and that was easy for me too. The LAST gave me trouble. Good Luck!!!!

I took the CST for music and found it WAY harder than the ATS-W and LAST. Definitely get a hand on those study guides- it's really the only way to go! There's Barron's...I forget the other one...you don't even have to buy them, you can go to the library and they'll have them- that's what I did!
I felt the ATS-W was a breeze in comparison to the LAST...way too much broad info on the LAST, but the study guides definitely help.

To pass the LAST, ATS-W ans CST i went on a site calle CertEd. It really helped and was worth the $100 i paid to help me pass the LAST

I bought a Baron's book for the LAST and ATS-W and just read through it an answered questions. It is a good study guide and I strongly suggest getting it. Also, if you go to the website for the LAST anf oter tests, you can print out sample questions and they will give you the correct answers and tell you why they are right. I took the LAST, ATS-W, CST Multisubject and CST Special Ed, I though they werent fair tests and werent that bad.

I took them both with no study guides, courses or practice tests. I had to wing it because I was in one of the first groups to ever take either one of those tests almost (if not more than) 10 years ago. The state was in the midst of doing away with the NTE. I passed the LAST, CST, ATS-W and ATS-P all on the first try. It is probable that the tests have changed over that period of time, but I did not find any one of them difficult. Many of my co-workers who were working on completing certifications, failed the LAST more than once.
My advice: For the tests that have essays at the end, look at the essay question FIRST so you can plan in your head while answering the multiple choice questions. Make sure you answer in the format they tell you. Follow basic rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation. My feeling is that you have a 20-25% chance of getting a multiple choice question right (depending on if there are 4 or 5 answers to choose from) whereas the essay is closely scrutinized and you stand to lose more points in THAT section.

To be honest, I do not think you can really study for them. Even the practice tests are not really that good of a preparation. The tests are really not that bad.

I agree. Went in hungover to the LAST and passed. The ATS-W was easy and the ATS-P (the video) was hysterical to make!

I wouldnt waste ur time studying for them. There's really nothing you can do. I actually did fail the LAST the first time by 1 point. It is mostly reading comprehension and that is definitely not my strong point. But the LAST was a sinch. As far as the CST is concerned I heard that math is the most difficult out of them all and i passed w/ flying colors. I just graduated in may and this is my first year teaching so i didnt take the tests that long ago.
