NWR: legal question

Good morning Ladies, so i was fired from my job yesterday, and my boss aggreed to give me a severane pay plus pay me for time owed. The money was deposited into my account Thursday night and then last night the money was taken out by the same company. Is this legal? i have signed paperwork stating that he was going to pay me the money.

If i dont see the right amount back in my bank account by monday morning do i have a right to sue?

TIA

Why the hell would they take it out?

Call on monday and ask why. Do you have an HR dept?

Re: NWR: legal question

Thats my question... i have no clue why they would reverse the direct deposit. the only thing im thinking is there wasnt enough money in the payroll account to cover (but then again it really
wasnt THAT much)

there is no HR dept. in the company its just the pres. vp and controller (the higher ups) and of course the pres is on vacation this week. im just so frustrated. It wasnt enough they fired me, they had to reverse my severancce.... ahhh i want to scream!!!

If you signed something that said they were going to pay you a certain amount, you should have an enforceable contract. Is them paying you based on any other event or time fram in what you signed though?

Before you go crazy, wait to see if it was a mistake. If it's a msitake, just let them fix it. If they are refusing to pay u all together, go speak to an employment lawyer

The only thing the form said was that the checks were payable on the 27th.

It was deposited on the 26th. and reversed on the 27th. i just dont get it and now not only did i lose my job, I have this strange feeling im going to have to go to small claims court to get the money the owe me....

I'm sorry you lost your job Hopefully it was just a mistake, but if it wasn't, and remember I didn't read whatever it is that you signed, it sounds like you can recover that money. Don't worry yet. Good luck with your job hunt... what kind of work do you do?
