Don't get discouraged just yet! Send out resumes do online applications. Many districts do not even interview until after the budget votes. Some do most of their hiring on Labor Day weekend! Don't give up....

Re: NWR: Long Island Teachers
some advice from experience... for the schools you are really interested in, hand deliver your resume. I've been a teacher for 8 years and every summer, there is a pile of mail that sits around from over the summer loaded with resumes... I feel so bad for those who spent tons of time sending one to the school yet its sitting there collecting dust.. and the person who sent it doesnt even know that is wasnt even opened...

Hey it's actually called ABA not ABC. Just wanted to let you know in case anyone called an agency for work. It stands for Applied Behavioral Analysis. :)

Also I think ABC is one of the components of ABA...Antecedent, Behavior, Consequence...all of those acronyms are related somehow

I just read that last post and I am also a substitute teacher...
What do you mean by 'ABC work'?
Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence. It's usually used with the autistic population and part of ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis). They will train you in these methods if you are interested.

I had a hard time getting a job on LI too. After subbing for a while I decided to get experience in the city. After two years I got a job on LI.
