I went to the mall today and saw something bright green fly past me... It was a baby parakeet! It landed in a tree and I went to Models and asked to borrow a net to catch it. They said yes and FH caught the birdie! We brought him home and got him a cage. We named him Modell McDuff (after the store and b/c he's green)
lol that is so cute! I wonder if he escaped from a pet store

He's GORGEOUS coloring. I've gotten all my parakeets this way! Seriously, my dad caught the three we had when i was little.
After he's been home for a little longer i'm gonna try to take more pics b/c his coloring is soooo bright, he's really pretty.

He's fairly young so that's what we're guessing. Especially since the pet store in the mall isnt all that great, he could have gotten out without anyone noticing.

We were going to buy one a few weeks ago and i really wasnt too sure about it, so we got the hamster instead. So now FH is super excited and keeps saying it's fate.

He's seriously NEON green. It's crazy. My parents and I caught three when we lived in queens. Parakeets are EVERYWHERE!

SERIOUSLY! all our pets but two found us, sort of. they are all rescues. we have 2 rabbits that we rescued. 3 cats that we rescued. 1 of which found my FH 1 rat 1 hamster and now this bird that found us!
it's friggin crowded in this one bedroom apartment!!
and yes, we dont think he would have made it long either. as soon as he was in his new cage he started eating and drinking. he probobly had no idea how to find food on his own.
