I have no experience in Marketing so I can't help you there...
But one word of caution: I have a friend who majored in Communications and Marketing in college and had no problem getting a job right away. Then she got laid off last year and then was out of work for almost a year because the economy is so tough, and people were cutting back in Advertising and Marketing and she couldn't find a new job. Luckily, she finally found one after about 10 months (and had done every temping job under the sun while she was unemployed). But I know that she was concerned that she would have issues in the future becuase of her career path!
Just keep working hard and get your hands on as much experience as possible - that will only help you in the long run!

just a word to the wise the industry is awful right now. i've been in marketing for the last 6 years and like another poster mentioned finding a job six years ago it was no problem, keeping a job is. marketing has been hit hard with the economy the way it is and is still slowly recovering. advertising and marketing budgets are the first things to get cut most of the time so agencies (i have an advertising agency background) got hit hard.

Re: NWR: Marketing Career
I'm a product and trade marketing manager for a division of a large corporation. I've been here 7 months, but spent 3 years with a direct competitor. We have over $100 million in sales, but seriously like 4 marketing people and they aren't going to hire anymore.
My last company decided that LI was too expensive and closed the office. I got wind of it before it was announced and was snatched up my current company.
It's really hard to get in higher than an associate without any direct experience. But it also depends on what type of marketing you're looking to do. I'm in CPG (consumer packaged goods), which is a lot different than something like advertising.
I haven't really been in the job market, but I do know some companies are hiring. But with all the unemployment, they are having more requirements. I know my FI's company is expanding (he's a senior brand manager) but it's very competitive to get into their marketing areas.
I'm like you, I have a B.S in International Business (I went to Marist). Seriously, I should have minored in either Spanish or Chinese. Half of our products come out of China. But I've found a lot of my knowledge has come just from working, not from what I learned in school. I toyed with the idea of an MBA but I've decided against it at this point in time.

The FIRST ABOVE QUOTE is EXACTLY what happened to me. I just spoke to a friend today who told me another agency just $hit canned a bunch more people...
This may not be the best time to do it, but thats just my opinion.
