Re: NWR.. Migrains (sp)
I used to get really bad migraines in HS and college....the kind that had an aura before it (tingly face and hands, confusion, loss of vision, and hard time speaking). I still get the headaches, but not as often and without the aura.
I was on meds for a reallly long time (took myself off them a few years ago) and it really helped...they were lifesavers! I took medication daily because of how bad my headaches were, but you can get meds for when the headache starts to come on.
They can get better and worse based on hormones (puberty, pregnancy, as you get older...) and I think stress makes them worse also....so that might be why you are getting them now.

yes, I went to the doctor and was prescribed Immitrex for when I get them. It's the only medicine that works for me.

FH gets horrible migrains. Mini seizures come with it and all. He's been to the neurologist and no matter what type of meds the MD prescibes, he says nothing works as good and Excedrin Migraine.
But, just to be safe, I would follow up with an MD, just to make sure all is OK.
Good luck!

I'd get to a doctor. Ive dealt with migranes since 99 and they come and go .. but they def. STINK.. for 6 months i can have zero, then i can get 5 in a week... i have perscription pills.. i put it under my tongue it melts and in 15-30 min im back to normal! maxalt mlt is what i take... this just happens to be a bad few weeks.. lots of things can trigger them... so its worth it to get to the doc and have them check you out... try to write down what you are doing right before they happen that might help the doc ... good luck!
I take maxalt and it helps with weak headaches but when I really have a HEADACHE it does nothing, I was also put on a preventative blood pressure med but it doesnt seem to be doing much. I was also on Imitrex and that was nothing but a waste of time for me and Naproxen and some kind of caffeine pill

It's so funny that I just saw this post- I literally just got back from my neurologist. I have been taking Imitrex for 10 years now and it works wonders. I have been taking the lowest dosage (25mg) and never had a problem with side effects. Maybe for now , until you get to see a doctor, you can try to figure out what triggers them for you. For me it's def stress, skipping meals, eating too much junk, also for some reason eating too many citrus foods. My doctor is located in New Hyde Park - FM me if you would like his contact info... oh yeah, I forgot to mention many hours of exposure to the hot sun during the summer is another trigger.

Re: NWR.. Migrains (sp)
Excedrin Migraine works like a charm for me. I get migraines when I'm overworked, focusing on things too much and when I eat something that doesn't agree with me. I also get them 2 or 3 days before my menstrual cycle. I guess if they were worse than what they are, I'd go to the Dr. However, I can manage it. I don't need a Dr. telling me I have a migraine when I already know that!!!!
ETA: If the migraines are persistent and won't go away with OTC meds, then definately seek a Dr's advice.
