Ok, so I just got done reading an article that Kate Hudson was featured in. She said 'I don't believe (monogamy) is realistic. But, I believe that we, as people, have the power to make it happen.' So I'm having a Carrie from SATC moment. Is monogamy possible?

you forgot to add, 'i couldn't help but wonder....'
yes i think it is possible---it may not be easy. but the key word is trust IMO. also--a very important thing is being secure in yourself. if you are an insecure person, you will never believe that monogamy is possible....because you can never believe you are worth it!

Re: NWR-Monogamy
every relationship takes work. as long as one is willing to put in the effort than it is achievable. my friend is engaged and getting married even though they both sleep around oh and wants to get married in a church before god. i know my monogamous marraige will last longer and i will know who the father of my children is

Re: NWR-Monogamy
What Kate Hudson said does makes sense..it's human nature to want to have more than one partner but it's up to us whether or not we resist the temptations.
I imagine it's next to impossible to be faithful in her type of Hollywood world. She also got married sooo young.
I have cheated in the past and I'm sure I've been cheated on. I have NEVER and don't think I would NEVER cheat on FH. When I'm really into someone the thought of another guy, regardless of how cute he might be repulses me.

I agree. Me and Fh never cheated on anyone (including ourselves). We both have a strong belief that if we feel the need or desire to cheat, we should just end the relationship before hurting others.

Re: NWR-Monogamy
She didn't say it wasn't POSSIBLE... she said it wasn't realistic. Monogamy is a struggle from an anthropological standpoint. Moreso for men than for women. This is scientifically documented. HOWEVER... it is entirely possible and humans DO mate for life if they choose to.
I - personally - have no desire to be with anyone else. FH... well I know that he would never ACTUALLY be with someone else - but I also know that he has been known to keep a not so secret stash of porn around. I have no illusions that he looks at it and pretends it is ME. LOL.
I trust him implicitly - but I am not naive enough to believe that he never ever looks at another woman and WONDERS...

Re: NWR-Monogamy
is it possible? of course! realistic - i think that kind of goes hand in hand with possible. If people can be monogomous (sp) then of course it is realistic.
I believe in both - it is hard for most people but i think if you have values and beliefs that you can stick to it

I want to think humans are like penguins and have the same mate for life! K, so that was my SATC post!

Re: NWR-Monogamy
I used to think the same thing about penguins then I watched March of the Penuins. Supposedly they don't have the same mate for life but more for the whole mating season which is probably the most manogamous of mammals still.
