NWR: MORAL QUESTION and VENT

So I know there is a girl at work who is stealing time from the company she comes in everyday around 9:30-10 if we are lucky and she does the payroll so yesterday i happened to see that on her payroll she puts that she is coming in at 7:30 everyday!!!!!!!!!! also that she comes in every sunday...WE ARE NOT OPEN ON SUNDAYS....she is the girl that they are considering for the new office manager

so my question is do u think I should write an annonomys (sp?) letter and tell the manager what is going on? she is racking in an extra 17 hours in OT every week

I am very bitter about this because my OT was taken away from me and I am the one who comes in every morning and opens the office and she strolls in when ever she wants, And I was supposed to be the office manager when our office manager left so not only did i get screwwed out of OT I also didnt get the promotion i was promised grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This is a tough one. Personally, I wouldn't want to be a snitch, even an anonymous one.

Eventually her scheme will blow up in her face. She is pretty ballsy to put down that she works on Sundays when you arent even open! Im sure that someone will pick up on that sooner or later.

I definitely think you should leave a note - with or without your name. If you do put your name, maybe you would be reconsidered for the position because of your honesty. If you don't put your name, you don't have to risk becoming the 'office snitch.' I do the time sheets at my job, and I get very frustrated when people put their time in wrong, but it's usually only an hour or so, not a whole EXTRA day! That is so wrong on so many levels, and she definitely needs to be spoken to. I say write the note.

perhaps when she gets the new position, someone else will take over her spot doing payroll?

i dont know if i would say anything---but it may be a good idea in your situation

I had this happen to me when I was at the last job. It really irritated me. So I just called attention to what she was doing. I would ask around if so & so was in because I cant find her. It took a week but my boss caught on. She was putting that she came in at 8 and she was strolling in at 10:30 or 11. And then she would take an hour and half lunch and say that she worked straight through.
Typically I feel like what other people do is not my business but at this particular place It could have snowed 3 ft and you walked in 5 minutes late and you would have been scolded.

Everytime I see someone snitch or tell- even if it's on the DL, it always blows up in the snitch's face. ALWAYS! I was involved in a sexual harassment issue at one of my jobs when I was younger and it blew up in my face and all the other girls involved.

I am planning on leaving in a few weeks anyway so even if I look like a snitch I wouldnt care because I will not be working with these people anymore......So i will probably do the annonomys letter and leave it at that

If you are leaving in a few weeks, you will likely have an 'exit interview' with HR. That might be a good time to say something especially since exit interviews are 'supposed' to be confidential.

is there a way to leave a discreet note aksing someone to discreetly look at what time she comes in and what time she records on the payroll? I mean that is just wrong and I dont know how nobody noticed that she is gets paid so much more OT and on a sunday

If you are leaving anyway, I would either write the note and totally tell HR in your exit interview.

Yeah thats what I was thinking because it is rally unfair to all the other employees, and the reason no one knows is because she does the payroll and hands it to the guy who does the actual checks and i guess nobody questions her hours

i would leave it alone - unless you are the girls supervisor its not your place to say - for all you know she may have been told to do that or is allowed to for whatever reason, you dont know what people work out with their bosses - b.c thats how it is at my job kind of

I thought about that also but i fell like if that is the case then there is no reason NOT to bring it to there attenttion because then they will be like oh well we told her to do that
