NWR - Mosquito Bites

NWR - Mosquito Bites

I got eaten ALIVE this weekend, like so bad. I have about 20 bites on each of my feet and ankles. Does anyone know the best way to stop it from itchign so much. I couldn't even sleep last night because it was so bad.

On a brighter note, It made me realize that I am telling FH's parents that the rehearsal dinner is no longer going to be a big tented outdoor affair anywhere, if I get eaten alive the day before the wedding I will die.

I've found that wearing socks with powder inside helps the itching. Unfortunately, it's rather hot so that tip only tends to work when I'm asleep! HTH a little!

Benadryl makes a stick that you rub over the bite. It helps me! You cna get it at any drug store!

Witch Hazel or white vinegar works for itching.

I got eaten alive this year too...especially at FIL's house. What I've noticed is that they didn't do the annual spraying across the island this year, and it seems the mosquitos are worse than ever..................

OMG... Kristen... No joke, I had a post IDENTICAL to this one but then I decided not to post it.

On Saturday night I got eaten alive by some sort of bugs. I have 'bites' larger than a quarter that COVER my ankles and feet, and all over my legs too. They are swollen and they sting and itch really bad. I think I am having an allergic reaction to whatever bit me. I too didn't get any sleep last night because of the pain.

Nothing has worked!!! I put alcohol on it, After Bite, and calamine lotion. The alcohol and After Bite temporally reduced the itching, but they still burn and I am in pain.
It seriously looks like I have the chicken pox. I am dying!!

I have a few too. Try Benadryl Gel. Let it dry on the bites; it form a kind of plastic-y cover on the bites so that when clothing rubs against them, it doesn't make them itch. I swear by this stuff!!!

Ok this is going to sound REALLY stupid but bare with me...

For some reason, I attract every mosquito in the tri-state area. FH found an article online a few weeks ago that said to put rubbing alcohol on them and once that dries...put a piece of scotch tape on them. I've done it a few times so far and it's worked for me. You will look a little ridiculous but it's worth a try

i am allergic to these insects! i blow up!

best tips....salt + water. make it a paste and put it on. this is really only good when you are home tho, cuz it makes a mess.

alcohol and benedryl help, but they are not miracles

and recently, by chance, i discovered ICY HOT!! i know it sounds nuts....but i got bit in the middle of the night a few weeks ago. i woke up, looked around my bathroom, and said 'why not'....when i woke up 4 hours later to get ready for work, the bites NEVER SWELLED UP!!!!

totally awesome!

Good luck!

i'm right there with you. i got about 15 this weekend on my legs.

I've heard a rumor that a piece of dryer cloth in your pocket works and this is what golfers use

i get really bad bites since I was a kid. they get HUGE and hot to touch. so bad that people used to ask if i sprained my ankle because it was so swollen with bug bites you couldnt see my ankle bone.
The benadryl creams work good, but i also take the childrens liquid benadryl too and that seems to work.
this is also another weird remedy my uncle taught me... if you make an X on it with you finger nail and then wipe some spit on it the itch goes away. it works.

Kiki-
I know what you mean!!
I had a pesky visitor in our bed last night, that ate me alive, and it WAS NOT FH!!!

I woke up with welts all over my feet and ankles...yuck.
AND to make matters worse, there was a dead mosquito next to the bed.

Of course I had to google why it died, thinking I had toxic blood and all .

Turns out, they won't live long in cold climates, and our bedroom is about 20 degrees at night...FH is a bear.
