NWR- movie - Sideways
Re: NWR- movie - Sideways
Hey, I thought I was the only one who didn't like this movie! It was so hyped up that I finally went to see it, but I was disappointed. I thought it was well-acted, but the characters were annoying and I hate the cheating part, too, as you said. The wine country setting is beautiful, though.
Re: NWR- movie - Sideways
Sorry, I saw it and loved it. (not the cheating fiance, though!) I think Paul Giamatti was ROBBED of an Oscar nomination.
Re: NWR- movie - Sideways
I saw it with a friend of mine because we needed a picker-upper and she had heard it was sooooooo good...We were even more depressed afterwards! All I can see in my head is the naked guy running down the street! haha! I guess I'm not a good judge of movies because it was nominated for a lot of awards...oh well, still hated it!
Re: NWR- movie - Sideways
HATE IT! I dont know why people are raving about this movie. I could not wait for it to end.
Re: NWR- movie - Sideways
I loved it. (Not the cheating fiance of course!)
Re: NWR- movie - Sideways
I loved it. Must admit it was completely strange, but then again its not your normal movie. Thinking about it now, I wonder if stuff like that really happens when guys go away for a 'bachelor' vacation. Anyways the ending was cute.

I liked it too...plus we spent the last few days of our honeymoon in wine country! I loved Virginia Madsen in it... and you're supposed to hate that cheating fiance guy! LOL... His approach to life was the same as his approach to wine: immediate gratification rather than the careful, loving enjoyment of something wonderful. I kind of like movies that don't turn out 'happily ever after' and make you think about human nature... its depressing aspects, as well as its beautiful aspects.
Re: NWR- movie - Sideways
I just saw it last night an really think about it, it isn't at all. At first I though that he had hit an all time low by drinking wine in the fast food place, but FI said that he was drinking awine that was really important to him in his 'old life' the one with Vicky. The fact that he was drinking it with a burger and fries showed that he now sees little value in it and his old life and is able to close that chapter in his life and finally move on. Right after that he drove up to see Maya. I think that it shows how you can't just go from one phase in life to another-- you need closure somehow. Jack got closure by doing what he did (don't agree with it) and it wasn't until he lost the wedding rings that he realized it, and Miles got closure by hearing that Vicky was pregnant-- now they can both be happy... hopefully.. I don't know...
