ahhh my little 8lb dog just ate a whole twix chocolate bar!!! isnt chocolate poisonous for dogs?? I dont know how he got his paws on it. i'm worried!

Its amazing what little dogs get into.
It can be harmful to them so keep an eye on him.

My dog ate mixed candy last year and the vet said just to keep an eye on him, if he starts to get sick or act weird to bring him in. In March my dog ate trident gum with xylitol in it and that was a horrible weekend that cost me over $2,000. Watch out for the sugar substitute xylitol

He should be alright-he may have some diarrhea though. Its bakers chocolate and LARGE quantities of regular chocolate that is toxic to dogs
If you are that worried you can always call the APSPC Poision Hotline..........

What is it with dogs and gum? My dog digs in my bag all the time looking for gum. I never knew it was that harmful to them

Doesn't hurt to call a vet and ask what you should do. You may not even have to bring him in, but they could make some suggestions on what to do.

i would call the vet...a few years ago our family shitzu (about 12 lbs)...ate a giant hersey bar and we called the vet...they told us to bring her right in and they pumped her stomach.
granted this was a massive hershey bar but i would call the vet just to be safe!

i would honestly just watch the dog closely all night...
if he seems off or starts vomiting i would call the vet...
he might get some major poops though so i would keep him somewhere close to where he goes potty !!!

My dog ate a box of truffles (the box itself included) and she was on a sugar rush for about 6 hours through the night it was horrible. She would run in circles around the house non stop but after it wore off she was ok. When it happened I called the vet and they said because she is like 50 lbs and she date only a few ounces she should be fine. But if your dog is small and it consumed a decent amount of chocolate I think you should probably call the vet and keep an eye on him all night. Hope hes ok!

Just watch him and make sure he doesn't get sick or have the runs. As long as he has no symptoms, he'll be fine. My dogs have eaten everything off that giant list of what's supposed to be poisonous to them. Anything from chocolate to onions to wires (for my printer) and they're still kicking.

I have a chihuahua who ate chocolate and got extremily sick from it. throwing up & everything,. I would definelty call your vet and keep an eye on him today! good luck!

he might throw up but believe me he will be fine.... dogs need pure cocoa to have any sort of serious reaction.... and even a dog that small needs a considerable amount of regular chocolate to get sick
