NWR: My LONG NYC Club Rant !! TENJUNE

Original post by AmorPeruano

Okay i know this has nothing to do with weddings but I have to vent!!!

I work part time freelancing for a NY newspaper and they assign me every 2 weeks to go check out restaurants, bars or clubs and then write a 200 word review about them.

So last night I was sent to a club I never heard of before called TENJUNE, on W12th St in NYC.

Supposidly this club is supposed to be some high affluent snooty type club that gives you a hard time getting in, but I never expected what I encountered when I got there!!!!

First of all, there was a guy in front of the club blocking parking spaces telling people that they had to PAY 20 DOLLARS to park on a public city street b/c it was the 'clubs space' and hes in charge of the cars...whatever the hell that means!! What a scam!!!! So if you DONT pay him, and you park there, youll run the risk of having him slash your tires or scratch you car up for you to find when you get back! So we ended up parking 6 blocks down and walked in the freezing cold to the club.

Once I get there, the bouncer is yelling, and I mean YELLING at a bunch of girls, telling them 'get in line or get on off MY sidewalk!' Oh I see, so the public parking spaces and the public sidewalk are now the club's as well!

People were desperate, trying to vy for the attention of the three bouncers 'Oh Alex...please...I know so and so. can you let me and my friends in?' Only to be completely and totally ignored and shunned as if they werent even there!

There were people there I talked to online that had table reservations (500 min per table) and they still were standing outside for over an hour in the cold!

I thought....are the walls of this club made of diamonds?? Does the DJ play music that gives you a damn orgasam? What in the hell is so damn special about this place that they can treat the potential patrons outside like a piece of s hit??

One cute guy came up and politely asked the bouncer if he could get in. The bouncer looked at him, looked at his friends and was like 'dont waste your time' and just smirked and walked away. When we first got there the doorman yells 'theres 2 lines on each side of the sidewalk!' 40 minutes later, another doorman comes out and says 'theres only one line on the right side!!' meaning Every Single Person on the left side was basically now F%#ked!!!!!!!

I'm 28, and true, I havent been in the NYC club scene in a couple of years. I used to go to Soundfactory, Exit and Tunnel every weekend, but that a many years ago when I was in my early twenties.

But never, not once in my life, did I ever see any place treat the people outside with such disrespect and straight out cruelness. I mean why even say the club is open to the public, its NOT. its open to celebrities , their sidekicks, and people who want to slip the doorman 100 dollar bill.

SAD!!!

Sorry girls, I just had to let that out! That was my Saturday night experience! Cant wait to write about it!!

This is why I cant stand and never go to NYC clubs

Same here. I do go to NYC clubs from time to time and I usually know someone at the door or I wont go. Its too bad a lot of Queens places are trying to act this way too. Like Island in Astoria. They SWEAR theyre in the city.

True!!! But its better for people that dont like to go to the city for clubs. I def feel more comfy in Astoria.

its funny bc honestly when i go to many city clubs, SOOO many people are from astoria. And the promoters i do know are from astoria too. Theres times theres a HUGE crowd of astoria kids and then other people from other neighborhoods that i know. I once read that queens kids fill up alot of city clubs and its so true. Many times i feel like i am still in astoria lol.

I like astoria clubs too but sometimes its good to get away lol, running into ex's, people you don't like and so many fights will occur bc of rivalries lol

SOOO 100% true.

i mean backin the days RIP SF- lol the WHOLE upstairs was Astoria and some lol

that's why when these NYC'ers say bride Tunnel Crowd- i dont get it? We Spice up the atmosphere with better dressed crowd - if it wasn't for the BT Crowd the Clubs would look all cheese to me

Yeah i remember one time at SF i went to the hip hop room to escape lol especially since back then i hated house lol and honestly just about everyone downstairs were people from astoria. Crobar too we just kept bumping into everyone from astoria and so many other clubs too.

Thats what im saying, can you imagine clubs with just city people lol...and i can imagine the dancing

i have family members who are investors of crobar! so i was there a lot.

well im sure you know Mike A., especially since your FH lives in astoria....he used to promote crobar when it was open, he also used to do SF

yes we know them!

yeah whenever ive gone to island i always see a big line, im just like YEAH OK i stood by the door guy

LOL Island is a fun place. I walk in smile. people give me nasty looks bc they've been waitin for a hot minute but i guess again its how you carry yourself and who you roll with

ps. im not a tough chik no it all i just do what i want get what i want

I never had a problem getting into island, I just hated how they treated my friends. I usually dont have problems getting in places either. But like Denise said, after going out in NYC, you start to learn the routine and you start to recognize the same people. Working in NYC clubs has also introduced me to a lot of people.

By the way, the new club Im working at will be open soon so you guys will be able to drop MY name and get in!!! Its called Touch on 52nd between 7th & 8th. Ill let you all know when it opens.

im down i like new clubs.

let me know if they need a DJ my FH Dj's

i can't wait for Mansion to open up again...

MANSION is having a 'Vareladiko' thanksgiving party. Im going to that

sweet. i may go to that. c u there!!

My friends brother was the boy who got killed at Soma by that bouncer. Did they close it right after that incident?

I didnt really know him well. She was closer to my sister. I remembered him from when we were little. Its crazy though cause almost a year after that the bouncer was killed, he died in a motorcycle accident. It was nuts.

i dont think the bouncer meant to kill him, it was a tragedy what happened so dont want to take away from that but the bouncer just punched him 1 time and somehow it snapped the kids head back from the punch, he did it bc the kid came after him with a pipe so the bouncers reaction was to do something to not get hit with a pipe.

yeah he provoked the bouncer and the bouncer left his post to go fight him. As a bouncer, you have to be able to control yourself. I dont think that bouncer was licensed. he was a young kid who used his power and took it too far. He should have called the cops, not go fight the kid. I could understand how he killed him, he was almost double my friends brothers weight. He was a VERY VERY skinny boy. And he was drunk and bouncers have to anticipate that drunk people sometimes act tougher than what they are. It could have all been prevented.

Re: NWR: My LONG NYC Club Rant !! TENJUNE

He also didnt seem at all remorseful according to his family. He never apologized to the family for what he had done even after getting off. He didnt have to serve any time. I understand it was an accident but a licensed bouncer would not have gone around the corner to go fight someone.

yeah it was just a stupid mess that ended in tragedy its sad.

I knew soma was gonna close down soon though...one of the last weeks i was there(i stopped going the last few months it was open) a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE fight broke out and i mean basically the whole club, but it was bad, someone got stabbed...there was some drug dealer rivalry. THANK GOD i was standing on the side i was on bc the WHOLE other side of the club was where the fight was and the side im usually on lol but i had went over to say hi to somebody...anyways i just remember looking up and honestly about 40-50 people were fighting and real big guys too so it got bad. Then tons of cops came storming in and i remember seeing my friend getting choked out by one of the cops until he passed out. I just stood there and the ppl i was with were like stay here just dont leave. Obviously the place closed earlier that night...then the following week while the club was going on there were cops inside patrolling. I think there was another incident soon after too.

BUT this happens with these clubs when theres neighborhood people, there is problems and rivalries and thats why i get away sometimes...Ive seen so many of these fights, its just that everybody knows eachother and problem is theres always someone you have a problem with.

Exactly! That kind of stuff happens at neigborhood places cause its inevitable when everyone knows eachother. And youre bound to bump into enemies, exes, etc! Thats why I dont really liek local places.

You girls are bringing me down memory lane with all the club stories. My club days have come to an end but they were fun while they lasted (at least what I can remember of them). Now its more lounges and bars. But all the places you mention and then some.....to be young and carefree again hahahaha!

it is soooo true. I mean i know when a place opens up in astoria i ALWAYS say ' lets see how long this place will stay open' Ive seen this happen with most astoria places, either that or they let in people that are just TOOOOOO young and it goes downhill. When i was going to soma all the time my friends were trying to tell me stop going so much and get away from that atmosphere lol bc it is very true. I did meet Fh bc of it hahahahaha so its not all bad, but even the night i met him, my ex was there and i had seen him earlier and we got into a fight so i was avoiding my ex and seriously hiding from him hahahaha bc he was trashed and i knew if he saw me he would start a scene

That is so true about the young people. Once they start letting the people who are obviously under 21 in, you know the place is gonna close down. I think my friends brother was under 21 when he was going to Soma.

hey no reason you can't go anymore lol...even when i was single i didnt go to clubs to meet guys, i never did actually. My friends would say just go out on dates, or tell me to hang out with guys that would come up to me at clubs and i wouldn't...the funny thing is the one guy i did meet and gave a chance to was FH, but again i knew who he was for years and he was there with ppl i knew and i was there with someone he knew so i felt it was different...meeting random guys at clubs wasn't my thing.

BUT i LOOOOOOOOOOOVE dancing, i always say its my theraphy. For me theres nothing like being on that dance floor just dancing all night, not a care in the world...so bc of that i still love to go out, of course now i dont go out as much but thats bc we're saving for a wedding lol

Oh god have you ever been to remi...i went when it first opened up and infact it was an older crowd, like i felt young there lol...then one day my friend and i were gonna go to a cafe but said lets stop by remi instead and seriously, i am not even joking these kids werent even 18 years old. I was seeing ALLLLL of my friends younger brothers and sisters and they were about 16 years old and they all knew eachother so it was a HS crowd, i know remi does teen nights now too bc thats the only ppl who still go lol.

Yeah its histerical bc i saw where he was and i told my friend im not going to that side but she wanted to go over to say hello to somebody over there so i said ok im going to the bathroom and ill meet you back here after you say hello to your friend...well i come out of the bathroom and she was still on the other side and i see here and im waiting, at this point she was talking to somebody else but couldnt see who bc they had their back to me, so finally i was like AHHHHHHH thats it im going over to get her. My plan was to go get her but once i walked over i noticed it was Joe she was talking to and i seriously got there, saw him and Just stopped and said ok nevermind im staying here too if shes hanging out with 'ESPO'(thats what i called him then) all of a sudden i didnt care that we were standing by my ex lol...and its funny bc i kept dancing in front of joe so he can watch me lol
