So went to the library today and a nasty women hit my car with her car door, ignored me when i askied if she just hit me and if she did any damage (she told me to look myself!), and proceeded to tell me to go back to new city you @**## jew. SO i asked if she jsut calle dme a jew and she said, 'i didnt studder'! and walked inside the library!!! OMG i was in such shock i couldnt move. and she had her two little kids with her!!! I have never in my 26 years had someone be this cruel.. Plus i didnt do anything, she hit my car!!! So i left, b/c even if i got her license plate theirs no way to prove she hit my door. My family is so mad, my fiancee was fuming (and he's catholic).
what a way to ruin a nice saturday :(

Nice that she made that remark in front of her 2 children! And we wonder why kids are so nuts today, huh?

In this context it definitely is.

The word 'Jew' is a noun.
'Jewish' is an adjective.

Judaism is not a race. It is a religion and an ethnicity.

In the context of which it was used, it was most certainly an ethnic slur but not a racial one. Regardless it was hurtrful and most certainly uncalled for.

I have come across many ethnic slurs and negative commentary in my life time. I have had the same people call me cheap and rich at the same time. I am neither. I have had people look at me and say 'You don't LOOK Jewish.' I have had people ask 'Who did your nose?' implying that since I am a Jew with a small nose, I must have had it fixed. I didn't. I have had people imply that my Daddy gave me everything I ever wanted. No, he gave me everythng I ever needed - the same as any other GOOD parent. A home, food and an education. My first roommate from college (in '88)was waiting for the horns to come out of my head when she found out I was Jewish. It was not an easy co-existence.

I don't know why or how these stereotypes are still perpetuated but they don't and won't stop any time soon. Every ethnic group has their share of adversity. The best thing to do is go on and teach your own children that intolerance is dangerous and destructive.

That was a very 'nice' way to say it.

BUT I just think the woman used that language to intimidate and 'cover up' the original probem. She hit the car and took off!!!!!

i am terribly sorry that you had to go through that.
unfortunately, racism and prejudice will never go away because you have ignorant people like that lady who are set on raising their children the same way. i am an african american myself and the best piece of advice i can give you is to never stoop down to their level (which is what you did). also, feel sorry for her because people like that dont realize how ignorant they are.

oh i see your point now! judaism is not a race but...
ethnic slur, racial slur, national origin slur, whatever.
Point is, any slur isn't nice, and it's sad that it still exists.

absolutely, thanks ladies, i really appreciate all the support, i guess it would be called more of an religious or ethnic slur, then racial, but i know you all knew what i meant. Like everyone says, its just sad that people are ignorant and have no respect for others. Whether your a different religion, race, or ethnicity, this goes to show that it is so prevelent in todays society and its horrible. I def will teach my children to appreciate everyone!

She is psycho!!! And she's raising her children to be this way too. It disgusts me. Some people are so horrible. However, as some of the other girls said, Karma will come back to kick her in her a$$

I would have followed her into the library and made a huge scene. Then I would have called the police from the library about the hit and run incident.

A woman said something nasty to me in front of her children once and I said....you see kids...how mommy talks to people??? You're a great role model in their lives...

I don't mind being called a Jew. I use that word myself. But if anyone told me to go back to (insert name of predominantly Jewish town), yah, I'd find that remark to be very bigoted!!! Don't tell me that I have to stay in a certain place where 'my kind' belongs, even if it is a nice area. I would never say that to anyone.

Be thankful that it did not escalate and you are okay. There are a lot of psychos in the world and you never know what people are capable of. But you have every right to be POed!

And, fast forward 20 years and this lady's kids could marry Jews and abandon her *** so fast . What goes around comes around.

I would have been stunned too, but I would have said nothing, taken her info and called the cops. I would ask for a Jewish cop!

She will get hers and I feel sorry for her kids. They will obviously be brought up as bigots.
