We are going to a first birthday party for our close friend's one-year old daughter and its a BIG party and I have no idea what to get her- please help! We would like to keep it within $50-$100.

are you thinking clothes, toys, etc? for my friends 1 year old, i wanted her to have something from me that she would have for awhile and would always think of me when she used it/looked at it. i bought her a small chair that also converts into a step stool. they drew flowers on it and put her name on it as well. my friend says her daughter is always sitting in it. it was something i had as a kid and i remember loving it. it's just an idea. i got it at a kiosk in the source mall and it was about $50.

How about a really cute wicker stroller? I think that would be about $50..depending on where you get it. It's something she could use as she's learning to walk and then use in a few years when she starts playing with dolls?

i am a big advocate of buying books for little kids ...also dvds that are child appropriate....i just went to my little cousins birthday party this weekend and got a few books for him....my cousin reads to him every night so it works....also a big hit was my sister getting him a bug vaccuum....it is a toy that actually ***** up bugs that are living and will not kill them but he can look closely at them and then let them go....i saw it does not hurt them so it was cute....little boys love stuff like that
ETA....just reread and saw its a little girl so i think the bug vaccuum wont work

for one year olds its good to get those toys you can push - lawn mowers that blow bubbles, strollers for their dolls, winnie the pooh tractor trailer (thats what I got my friends 1 year old)
Can you get her a nice doll and a stroller?
