nwr: need help planning a romantic weekend getaway

First off, hi everybody *waves* I'm back from visiting my grandparents. The trip was... yeah. Boca Raton. Gotta love it.
Hope you all had fun at the get together and the woty!

So, to my question:
Jeff and I are thinking about going away for a long weekend in the beginning of April to celebrate our 6th anniversary. We've never been away together, so I'm pretty excited. Problem is that I have no idea where to go.

We were thinking something within a few hours driving distance, maybe a Bed and Breakfast type of thing. I'm not sure where though... where is good in April? The Berkshires? Cape Cod? Connecticut somewhere?

Somewhere nice, but reasonably priced, since neither of us has a lot of money. And not totally in the middle of nowhere, which might be kind of creepy, but still in a nice peaceful area.

So, any thoughts? Recommendations for places to stay? Websites to check out?

also, just for the sake of asking, if you were to take maybe 3 days to go away together, would you go the bed-and-breakfast route, or would you fly somewhere tropical? It doesn't seem worth it to fly somewhere for like a day and a half (when you subtract travel time)... but Jeff was thinking about it.

thanks ladies!

I recommend Cove Haven. It is part of Caesars Pocono resorts. FH and I went last year and had a blast!! It is couples only, all inclusive, and they have activities all day and night (you don't have to participate in all of them). We got breakfast in bed every morning and went to things like the newlywed game at night and theme parties!! It was awesome!! Check out their website!

I've heard Mohonk upstate is fabulous....

We're going to A/C in March - just a getaway, but it should be fun too! We got tix to see Brad Garrett at the Trop.

Newport, RI is a really nice town... has old mansions to take tours of and i'm sure there are nice places to stay.. a really cute harbor town.

What me and Fi have done also is go into Manhattan--i'm not sure if that is where you live already.. but to stay in a nice hotel and there is obviously so much to do.... things you wouldn't normally do even though you live so close

Or another nice city.. a little less crowded... Philadelphia.. me and Fi went there as well for a weekend and we had a great time.

Do you like to gamble... AC or Mohegan Sun??? You may run out of money though if you stay 3 days hehe..

Boston????

Sorry i'm more into the cities rather than the remote/middle of nowhere places.

I would recommend Mystic, CT - it's only about a 15 minute drive from Mohegan and Foxwoods so you can go there one night if you wanted too.

Not sure how far you are willing to drive, but Niagara Falls is very romantic.

I second Mystic. FH and I went last year and it was a lot of fun. We went to Mohegan one night - very close. I would check out websites though first. It might be considered an off season and certain places might be closed since it is a boating town.

I would also say Boston or Newport.

Or the Manhattan idea also sounds like alot of fun.
