NWR: Need Ideas for my grad school paper

I have to write a paper introducing a business initiative to improve employee relations within a company. I have no clue where to begin...HELP

PS - Has to be more in-depth than team meetings/get togethers.

Well, how far off of the team meetings and get togethers does it have to go? Maybe some sort of program recognizing good progress or some sort of recognition for a job well done? It can be something corny and silly, because that brings people together.

Team building activites? Mostly, I think of brainstorming sessions, recognition for birthdays/anniversaries/special events... Workshops that are fun... events outside of the workplace, usually like a holiday party or a reward ceremony?

Other ways of keeping employees engaged and happy at a company.

Team meetings/parties are a good idea but what are some other things a company offers to keep ppl there (besides competitive salary)

Im trying to think of it from an insiders point of view. I've worked for companies who've done a few different things that help improve morale overall and I guess in turn kind of help improve employee relations. One ad agency I was at had an a break room area with playstation for when it got too intense.

Another agency had a large break room with snacks, a pool table, various tv's, and things like that. There was also an outdoor lunch area where many people could sit outside and work or eat together. These type of things work because you aren't forcing people to be together but it's such a friendly welcoming atmosphere that instead of everyone fleeing out to lunch, many people would hang out with each other.

I was at another place that was a bit more extreme with it... We had free bagel fridays and every floors common kitchen area was fully stocked with all different types of bagels and spreads. It was there for a few hours and always got everyone chatting together. it def increased everyones productivity because they were all happier. They also did something called 'Recess' once a month. There was a committee and they'd have a theme and decorate 2 different floors which had the most common areas and there would be all sorts of snacks and drinks- alcohol... They did an 80's prom one friday mid-day and we all had props we could take our 'prom pictures' with.

Where i'm at now we have a once a month event where everyone brings in something to contribute to whatever lunch we will be making for the office. (Smaller office). Once a year we do a team building event. There's a bunch of these you can research.

I think having a gym in your building def helps build employee relations bc a lot of ppl will go to a company paid for/discounted gym.

So, not all of these are direct employee relations but I think if you try to force employees to get together they don't like it as much. Not sure if any of this helps, but this is the best I can come up with. Usually if more people start writing things it becomes easier to brainstorm and build off each others ideas...

maybe, the company can outsource a company to have focus meeting to speak with the emplyees with there ideas, suggestion, complains to be anoymous input.

Also

Service awards to anknowledge there hard work, years of commiment to the company.
