NWR: Need NYC rec's for somewhere to go this Saturday to celebrate!
My birthday is this Friday the 13th and I planned on celebrating it then somewhere local in LI but wanted to go into the city on Saturday night for Dinner and then either a Lounge or a Bar. I heard of DIP NYC and that looked pretty cool, but I want more options...somewhere fun and different!!! It's probably going to be something like 6 or 7 couples.
ANY FUN IDEAS??

I've head DIP Cafe is really cool, but I've actually never been there. Another place I love to go w/ a group is Ruby Foo's in Time Square

i would suggest 'one little west 12th.' it is a restaurant/lounge that plays great music so it feels sort of clubby too. we went for my sister's bachelorette party and we had a fantastic time. the atmosphere there is really great. the only thing is, not sure if you'll be able to get reservations for such a large group on short notice.
i've been to dip- it's cute b/c of the fondues, but it's more of a bar/lounge to hang out. not sure if i'd suggest it for a group of couples celebrating your bday.

I LOVE Metro 51 as a club!!! They play awesome music!!!!
It's actually the only place I've ever been to in the city. Aside from Hogs and Heifers but that doesn't count...

Melissa - are you going out for dancing? Drinks? Whats the idea? There are some fun swanky lounge/clubs in the meatpacking district - Lotus, Aer, hotel gansevoort's bar....
It's a great place to get dressed up and go out on the town. But you'll pay a pretty penny.....
