NWR - Need Suggesions for Where to Have FH's Bday Party in Suffolk

FH is turning 40 in January and he really wants to have a party out somewhere, not at our house. Obviously since we're getting married in March, we won't have money to spend on that. When I said that to him, he got really upset, so I figured at least I could try to find a place. I guess I'm looking for a place where I could rent the whole bar for a few hours, or maybe just a private room. Don't need tons of food, maybe just some appetizers. Does anyone know of any place? We live in Setauket, so something not too far from there. TIA

A lot of bars will allow you to rent out the area during happy hour.

Try nightclubs, not sure whats around there....but since most don't open till late, they are willing to have a private party during the early evening.

Thanks. I didn't think of the night club idea. I'll check it out. Anyone else?

john harvards has a private room and so does sonoma grill. you could also try to block off a section of a bar like maybe mulcaheys in centereach

The bulldog. FH's friend just has a party there, and they rented the upstairs and they just had the bar and some appetizers

My FH threw me my 40th in August at Molly Malones in Bay Shore (right by the Fire Island Ferries).

It was VERY reasonably priced and the food was good. I know it was reasonbly priced because he wouldn't have spent all that much after just dropping a chunk of change on my engagement ring

you can get a table at a nightclub, this can get very pricey though and you don't get much. To get a table at a nightclub you have to purchase 2 bottles to get the table and they are $300 each bottle, so it costs $600 just to get a table. Then all the drinks that everybody else will have, if you have a big group can get pricey so as long as you're not paying for everyones drinks then its fine.

To do a nightclub while it is closed is also expensive, they charge alot if you are going to rent out their place.

I've been here a couple of times. Its close to massapequa, we've been there when we've gone to hang out with DH's friends who live in massapequa. I dont remember exactly but i know it wasnt a far drive to get to from their friends house.

A friend of mine had a party at this place near the Smithhaven mall. You bring your own food and alcohol in. I wish I could think of the name of it. It's really a DJ place so they provide the dj. urgh. this is going to annoy me....

This was it:

Place you can rent

When I priced around for my rehearsal dinner, Old Street Pub in Smithtown was very reasonable and they have a very nice Pub / Restaurant atmosphere..

(I almost booked them but went somewhere closer to LIE b/c I had a lot of nassau guests)

Amityville/Massapequa is actually about 30 minutes away from us and most of our friends. It sounds good, but I think it will just be too far when you factor in everyone drinking and stuff.

Brick House Brewery-really affordable and they have a nice upstairs room with your own private bar
