NWR: Need to make some extra money, any advice?

I'm currently working a Mon-Fri, 9-5 job but the pay just isn't cutting it. Between monthly payments for my credit consolidation, my rent, and trying to save for a wedding, I feel like I have NOTHING leftover. I guess I need a part-time evenings and/or weekend job, but I'd like to find something that pays decently.

I have no waitress or bartender skills, and I'm a klutz so I don't think either of those jobs would be a good option for me anyway! I'd love to do some kind of PT office work, maybe photocopying, scanning or data entry. I have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Quickbooks.

I'd REALLY love to work from home, but so many 'work from home' jobs are just scams. And I DEFINITELY do not want to do sales or cold calling, I hate customer service with a passion.

Does anyone know of any places hiring, or have any leads of places to look into? Thanks in advance :)

Did you go to a college? My old Community college posted part time (and FT) jobs on their job board. Alumni were allowed to use it as well. Same for my 4 year college (FIT)

Maybe see if any hair salons or vet offices (or other places with weekend hours) are looking for PT help? I feel like these places would be itching for people who are fine working on weekends. I've considered doing something on the side myself.

Re: NWR: Need to make some extra money, any advice?

@ kim24 - I just checked NCC's website, unfortunately they don't give you contact information for the people who post jobs. You have to actually go to the campus & use the job center.

@ Lori0413 - that's something to look into, though I feel that both of those places would want someone with experience. Also there's probably a lot of dealing with customers, which I'd like to avoid if possible.

@lauren1802 - I might look into that, although like I mentioned, I'm not a huge fan of retail and working with customers

@guitarstikibars - I'm not a huge fan of children either

@NIKOLE - just checked out care.com, apparently you have to pay in order to contact anyone who posts jobs on their site.

Thanks anyway ladies

You can try http://realwaystoearnmoneyonline.com/ I do merchandising and ad changes in grocery and drug stores. I barely have a social life but I make an extra $100 a week on average but I'm in the same boat. It took me a while to find something I don't mind doing.......

Re: NWR: Need to make some extra money, any advice?

Try Secret Mystery Shopping... Doesn't really pay much, but they pay for simple tasks or reimburses you for a meal. I did it while I was a full-time student and didn't have much time for retail work.

Marketforce, spar, sinclair customer metrics are a few of them.

Re: NWR: Need to make some extra money, any advice?

@JohnandRho - need help doing what exactly? Do you have experience working with real estate companies already?

@nella20005 - thanks, I checked out that site and found a few things to look into. It's not big bucks, but I just need to supplement my income & hopefully something will pan out :)

@CarpeDiem - interesting idea, I'll look into those companies. Thanks.

Yes! forgot to mention you have to go in person. There is a career office. Did you go to NCC?

You said you have a lot of experience with excel and data entry.....what about a hospital? They need people to input patient information, track MD visits, all sorts of behind the scenes things we don't think about. Also, I don't know the current situation with hospitals/healthcare facilities on LI, but just about everywhere is switching everything over to electronic databases and patient files- your scanning abilities could come in handy with that.

I don't have real estate exp. Sometimes real estate agents get a lot more if they have an open house for their property but they cannot be at two places at once. Sometimes they need a person to be at the open house to watch over the property while people come and and take a look around. The person is also there to make sure that each person leaves a contact info. It is a good lead for the real estate agent to have a list of people interested in buying a house because even if they are not interested in the house they saw that day then the real estate agent can call them back and try to show or sell them something else...or who knows maybe you can also pick up additional cash by screening the leads and seeing who has a preapproval and who is really serious. It helps save the real estate agent time.
