So i've been working insane hours in the ICU...as many of you know, thats basically the story of my life. But, i get home and i'm so beat and/or frustrated, that i barely even speak to my FH. I usually sit on the sofa on the computer or watching the TV, and he is on the other end. Its basically my way to decompress....but when i get home around 830-9 and then go to sleep an hour later...i feel like i'm ignoring him, or just being mean. I know that he understands the stress that i'm under, but i still feel so horrible. Its bad enough that i'm depressed becuase of work...but now this is on my mind. I also dont even have weekends to spend with him, cause i'm either working a 24 hour call Sat or Sun, and the next day i'm just sleeping. *SIGH*
Sorry girls, just needed to vent a bit.

Re: NWR - Need to vent a bit
aww I'm sorry to hear that but its important to spend qualitty time with fh. Its not the quantity its the quality of the time. Make plans and set aside an hour or a few to devote your complete attention to him, I'm sure it would make you feel better. or if you two have a routine try to work some together time into it? Your hours are harsh but I'm sure it will all be worth it, it wont be this way forever. Feel better

That's completely understandable. It's tough when you can't see the FH. I've been there and it makes things hard. Just try to make the best out of your time together.. really.. it's the best you can do.

I'm soo sorry! It sucks that you have to work so hard right now, I know you know it'll be worth it in the end but its probably hard to see that right now.
I know exactly what you mean when you're saying that now you're feeling bad about how you're handling it, when you're already feeling bad about everything else. I'm like that too, so just tell FH thank you.... tell him you appreciate that he understands what you need and thats why he's so perfect for you, and that one day things will be less crazy and you love him through all of it!
Thats about the only advice I have

I'm sorry!!! you have a good FH who understands the stress and supports your career! yes its important to spend time with him, but its important to sleep too! the crazy schedule is only temporary while you're a resident...and it will get better!
you'll get plenty of quality time for FH on that cruise you have coming up!

I am so sorry but you are not alone. I may not work in the ICU but I work two jobs I teach during the day and I work at a supermarket at night and i barely spend time with my FH because i am always working or if I am not working I am cooking and cleaning when he is working and by the time he gets home I am a sleep or on the weekend I clean and i work on Saturdays so I am in the same boat. Don't worry it will pass. I do 50 hours a week sometimes 60 so I totally know how you feel.

Vent away.... know how you feel.... I am in the same boat.... what has been working for us is 'us' time..... a time we set aside for us to get away from family, friends, work, wedding stuff and just RELAX.... it makes the times we are 'just passing through' not sooooo bad.... Just a suggetion.... Hope all goes well.... keep us posted
