NWR: New England/Canada

FH and I want to get my parents a trip as a 'thank you' for all they are doing for the wedding...i dont want to put them on a plane...so i came across cruises that leave from NY and go to places in new england and canada like: saint john, boston, portland (maine) newport (RI) and halifax (novia scotia)....

iv never been to any of these places and neither have they...theyve done it all though (europe, hawaii, carribean etc)....does this sound like a nice itinerary? any opinions welcome....thanks!

ive never done it but i think it really depends on the time of year

my cousin did one with her husband last november and they said they got really sick because the waters were really choppy

but i dont have personal experiences HTH

I have been to most of those places. They are all wonderful but totally different then your Caribbean/Tropical places. It is a different type of beauty.

The only place on the list that I haven't gone to is Nova Scotia which I hear is BEAUTIFUL!

FH and I almost booked this cruise but decided that we wanted Tropical.

I had asked a friend whose FH lives in Canada about the weather there in summer, and he said it will still be mild but very nice out. It will really depend on time of year for weather up there, but summer would be my best recommendation for going North.

That is a really really nice gift, btw!

my mom and her sisters did that cruise this past summer and loved it ...

but it really depends on the person, i think ... i don't think i'd enjoy that cruise because i could just drive to those ports (and have seen some already).

there are some cruises that leave from NY or NJ to caribbean or bermuda ... for me, those would be much more fun ... but again, that's just me - your parents might love this NorthEast cruise

If they go in the fall, that is prime 'leaf peeping' season. Yes, that actually exists! But all the foliage will be turning colors and it is truly beautiful.

On your list I've been to Boston, Portland and RI, and all are super cute and fun towns. Boston is obvi a city and there is tons to do, Portland is beautiful and there are lots of cute stores and cutesy New England, and so is RI.

HTH!
