NWR: new terrorist threat.

anyone see this? they were planning on using liquid bombs on board. now, security is extra tight and you cant bring liquids on- like makeup, bottled water and toothpaste. ugh, i am taking a 20 hour flight next week and now i cant bring toothpaste.

I KNOW!!!! I am going on vacation next week, and listening to all the new flying guidelines...it's crazy. I understand why they are doing it, but it's still crazy. I heard NO carryons...just plastic bags that you can see through. Not even cell phones. I hate putting my shampoo in my bags that get thrown around. What do they care if my shampoo gets all over everything. (i do use ziplock bags for EVERY thing). I mean I'll do it, but I'm going on a cruise, and just worry that my bags will get lost. But I would rather be safe than sorry. It's just crazy!!!

It is so crazy what the world is coming to. I would gladly do any kind of security measure that anyone asks. If I have to walk on the plane in my underware so be it!! I know when I fly I don't want to take any chances. I hate not feeling safe.

Re: NWR: new terrorist threat.

as long as you check it it sounds as though you can bring it....just not allowed to carry it on....and right now they are speculating as to whether or not the US will change and not allow carry ons at all

i had lunch with DH and i said to him, look, they'll just have to ban all carry-ons except for diaper bags..which will need to be thoroughly checked and extensively screen the checked luggage. it really stinks that a few people have to ruin it for the rest of us.

i think you can put that stuff in your checked luggage.. i think it is just your carry-on's that can not contain liquid's.

This is only on flights into/out of and within the UK that you cannot bring any carry on luggage, only essential items in a see through plastic bag, such as your travel documents, essential medications, etc.... no ipods, cell phones, laptops, etc....

On US flights nothing liquid. Bottles, gels, toothpaste, shampoo, lotions, etc... in your carry on luggage, but you can put it in your checked bags.

'Statement By: The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Regarding Alleged Terrorist Plot Uncovered in United Kingdom
Date: August 10, 2006
Press Release Number: 0-2006

In response to the alleged terrorist plot involving flights from the United Kingdom to the United States, The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey advises travelers of the following changes to the airport screening procedures at Newark Liberty International, John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports.

The Transportation Security Administration is prohibiting LIQUIDS OR GELS OF ANY TYPE in carry-on luggage. These items must be in checked baggage. Prohibited items include: beverages, suntan lotions, shampoo, creams, toothpaste, hair gel and similar items.

The TSA will allow baby formula and medication, but these items will be inspected at the checkpoints.

Passengers should call their carriers before traveling to the airport since some flights are being cancelled or delayed. Travelers should arrive at the airport at least two hours before their scheduled flights.

The Port Authority has been and remains on a heightened state of alert at all of its facilities since the terrorist attacks of 9/11. As a result of today?s revelations, we have increased police presence at the airports to assist federal agencies, including the TSA, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.'

You can still bring a carry on on the plane. That has not been prohibited. Just watch what you pack.

I have all my stuff packed in my checked bag in DOUBLE ziplock bags. I know I sound crazy but I really don't want to get to Florida to find that my shampoo is all over my clothes ! ! ! !

My mom is FREAKING out. She doesn't want to fly to Florida to begin with, and now this makes her even more anxious. I hope they serve strong drinks on our 2 1/2 hour flight ! ! ! I tried explaining to her that these 'people' were coming from overseas and we are only going to Florida, but she didn't care.

Re: NWR: new terrorist threat.

For all travellers traveling to Europe:

Although the regulations are mandating to be at the airport 2 hours prior to a flight, plan on going to the airport WAY ahead of 2 hours.

My sister works for an airline in Europe (so she is on top of international flight overseas) and is flying with my mom on Saturday for my wedding. They are being told to come '4' hours prior to their flight due to increase security overseas.
