FI and I are trying to plan a quick little getaway, preferable somewhere within a decent driving distance. We we tossing around the idea of Newport, RI or Hershey, PA...any other suggestions? We also don't want to break the bank on hotels, I was looking at some in Hershey that we over $300 per night!

Re: NWR:: Newport, RI or Hershey, PA?
Well Hershey would be more of an amusement park thing and Newport would be the walkng around sightseeing thing, so its more of what you would rather do. Look for Hotels that are near Hershey, but not in the actual town, you will get a better rate.

How funny??? We are looking into Newport as well for a couple of days next week...just not sure where to stay (I was getting quoted a ridiculous amount of money for hotels) and what we should see..If anyone who has been to Newport can make some recommendations that would be great...Thanks

Newport has some great B&B's! Unfortunately most of them are either booked for the end of the month or

well it all depends on how far you want to drive-- if you want to stay close I would say Newport. or how about Connecticut, to Mystic Sea Port.

We went to Mohegan Sun in March, and took a few days at Mystic as well.

i went to school 20 minutes from newport and visited hershey on vacation and both are great choices!!! newports beautiful but the hotels and restuarants are very pricey b/c its a summer mansion/yacht club kind of place. hershey is alot of fun with the hershey amusement park but i dont remember prices. if you go to newport i strongly encourage dining atleast once at 'the red parrot' its phenomenal and their menu is a binder - its also a beautiful historic building and one of my favorite rhode island restuarants!!

My sister went to Newport and loved it. I happen to be a huge advocate of Cape May NJ! I love it!!!! THere are so many great places to choose from B&B, motels, hotels etc. Plus they have incredible restaurants.
My dream wedding would be to have it there..but when I started to look into it the whole location wedding thing became too stressful.
Try www.capemay.com and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to fm me. I have been there 3 times! Oh and the beaches are beautiful!

I vote for Newport - much more romantic, if that is what you are going for.

I was looking for the same thing, we have never been to Lake George and one of the girls here at work recommended a place to stay and we got a room for $78 a night, here is the link of the place. We also booked a dinner cruise for one night and it has entertainment and takes you around the lake. And then one day we are going to Great Escapes.
WOW! An occupational therapist at my job asked me the SAME EXACT question yesterday!!!! How weird is that? I looked at your profile and the name is not the same, but....WHOA SCARY
Anyway I just went to Hershey with my class and it was soooooooo much fun! However its a lot of walking, sweating (especially now in the summer), and a lot of crowds! Going to Newport RI would be more relaxing and peaceful....plus it's GORGEOUS there! It really depends on what type of getaway you want.....action/adventure or relaxation/romance!

I just went to NEWPORT over 4th of July my first time there.. VERY romantic.. i'll post some pics.. There is a lot to do, the cliff walk, (alongside the water bordering the mansions, mansion tours, great restaurants, and little shops/boutiques along the water, we went on a boat that had fireworks (it was 4th of july), but they have 'cruises' daily. We stayed at the Mariott on America's cup Ave. There are a bunch of b&b's FM me if you want any info on them I have a brochure with all the phone numbers, etc.
