so i just got a letter from my oil company saying they're increasing my monthly payments next year which is insane to me since all my friends refer to me as a heat nazi.. my heat is like never on! .. so i was just wondering.. if you have oil heat.. how much are you paying a month and what company do you use? i think it's time i find a new one. TIA!

Re: NWR - oil heat
It's not just your company that's increasing your prices, it's oil companies in general. You might want to consider switching to natural gas.

I don't pay per month...i have a yearly maintenance contract & then the oil deliveries that get charged whatever the going gallon rate is...we have a wood burning stove that helps heat our house in winter...big help!
I know my Dad said something about if you don't use enough oil sometimes they charge you more i think???

I live with my parents but could tell you they use Petro. I believe they have a 'locked in' rate' but I could be wrong. And we get automatic deliveries.

Same with my family. We used Perrillo though.

hmm.. i know i have a yearly maintenance contract and a locked in oil rate.. but they don't bill it separately they bill it together.. so my rate went from 261 a month to 365 next year.. which is so not okay lol

i think it's just the energy crisis, so it doesn't matter how little you use. what you do use will cost more this season and for every season hereafter until someone in this country actually does something about it.

Re: NWR - oil heat
we use Bauer Oil. we got a cap on the price in Aug when it was $2.899/gal. Embedded in that price is the maintenance contract which they say is free but ... So we pay only when we get a delivery. but if we get 170 gal of oil delivered that bill is $492.83. We have a new burner so we may go 6 weeks or so on a delivery in the winter but you'd need to do the math to figure how this equates to your monthly bills. or ask what they are charging you per gal and if they charge for maintenance contract to compare fairly.
