NWR: OK this is why women are SO self conscious!!!

OK So I was reading this article and apparently, the Brazilian Media is 'up in arms' that supermodel Karolina Kurkova is 'TOO FAT' to walk the runways.

Umm, if she is fat then I need to wire my jaw shut and be sent away to a fat camp.

Seriously, I think she is GORGEOUS and it looks quite sexy that she has curves.... These people are nuts!!!

I honestly think she looks BETTER right now.

It saddens me when I go to the gym in the morning and I see girls SOOO thin that they look concave, working out like crazy.........

I don't think they're saying she is fat on a regular standard but as a model. I think most models now are way too skinny and look too boney, but the standard for a model is to be extremely thin, you do have some models like tyra banks that have more curves and i personally think she looks much better than most of them

I dont agree with the industries standard, but it is the standard for models and they will judge if a girl is walking down the runway with even a little bit of fat and isnt a size 0

in russia they fired one of their top ballet dancers bc she gained weight and was 110 pounds and they had so many articles making fun of her and calling her fat

women shouldnt let that get to them. I am not a model so dont feel pressure to live up to those standards. It is sad bc young girls do take it that way

well alot of the designers are to blame. Even on ANTM, you see the plus size models having problems when they go to top designers to interview...One designer was so mean and even said 'ugh we dont make clothes in her size we wont have anything to fit her' the clothes they make for runways are size 2 and smaller, so in order for somebody to model in one of their runway shows they have to be very thin. They are the ones who ask for these type of models so the industry gives them what they ask for. Now if youre a model and want to get work and make money they have no choice but to make sure they are very skinny bc the first thing they do when you go for an interview is try on their clothes. For these models its not just about them wanting to be that thin but in order for them to work they have to be. Thats why so many of them have eating disorders and yes will even get into drugs because they feel so much pressure to be a certain size, if theyre not then no work for them and no money

how come on the runway the models and sizes are so small but in the stores i can never finding anything that fits me?!?!??! that always boggles my mind - i know that the clothes in the stores arent off the runway - but its still annoying - i NEVER can find clothes in my size - and when i do find things in a 0 they are still too big on me! meantime the 'models' you see are smaller than me - ok they are def taller - but i bet they are just as skinny and some even skinnier for sure!

well its different what you find in the stores and then in a couture runway show. Most regular stores carry clothes of brands and designers that make all sizes. So it is a bit different, if you go look at the clothes of some of these big designers that make couture clothes im sure in their stores they only carry smaller sizes
