Its strange that you posted this the day that I've had this conversation 304209358203958 times. My company gave out flu shots today. I've never had one in my life so I didn't get one...but I've never seen anything natural about injecting yourself with something unncessary....odds are the flu will not kill you if you're an average healthy human being...

I also read that story on LIF about the 8 year old boy that died from his flu shot.

She said that they arent 100% sure it was from the flu shot though, they are still looking into it.

It is a million times safer to get a flu vaccine than to get the flu! Not only that, think about the people you are around. The babies and the elderly and the people that may be immunocompromised due to HIV or chemotherapy -- you getting the flu shot helps protect all these people.

I agree that if you are immunocompromised it may help you but other than that why should perfectly healthy ppl inject themselves to prevent getting the flu. Vaccines save lives but to prevent a flu which is not life threatening. We are living in a society that is over medicated and this will lead to alot of bacteria and viruses that will become resistant.

However, for anyone else who is reading: the flu viruses mutate rapidly so that any new strains are not a result of anything having to do with vaccines. The whole issue of resistant viruses comes from incorrect antibiotic use NOT from vaccines.

Furthermore, healthy individuals having adverse events from the flu is much more likely than having an adverse reaction to the flu vaccine. Then there is the added benefit of herd immunity. There is also the huge economic benefit from productivity losses that may result from the flu. Go and read some of the research.

Well to correct you I do know about the topic!!!!!!!!!! Please do NOT assume what I do know and dont know!!!!!!!!! We all have our opinions and to attack peoples understanding of topics is very unnecessary and childish.

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT!!!!!!

Yes I know that vaccines have eradicated MANY MANY viruses over the years(hello, thats why babies get SHOTS). I haven't gotten a flu shot EVER in my life and I'm pretty sure I haven't gotten the flu in the last 10 years or so. And guess what, when I got it, it didn't kill me! I'm sorry to the HIV patients and chemo patients and the elderly and the children that are more susceptible to this illness, but I for one, am not. Not saying that I will never get the flu but again, odds are it won't kill me and I'm willing to roll the dice on this one.

Are you going to be the same person that tells me that there no link between autism and childhood vaccines?

And BTW, you're not sorry for the rant when you refer to other people with immature insults like 'uneducated people.' I'm actually the first in my family to graduate college, so its actually my family thats uneducated I guess, not me....and you, my fellow bride can eat it.

Back to the purpose of this post....its just heartbreaking for that woman and her family. When you see something like that, you dont look at statistics. Its a tradgedy...not a debate. Lets pray for her and her family to get through this and for her to excel in her new lifestyle.

i see both sides of the disagreement.....viruses do mutate because of the misuse of antibiotics not vaccines... Vaccines have been a major part in eradicating many diseases.....but vaccines themselves are not fool proof. There will always be side effects, its up to you to decide if you want to get the shot or not.

You can get vaccinated for the flu but still get another strain of the flu and be sick...

i think if you are around people or are immuno-compromised then you should get the flu vaccine...i dont see why a healthy person who is not in either of these categories would get the flu vaccine. I personally have never gotten the flu shot and i dont plan on it unless my situation changes.

OK, I'm not participating in the debate, I just want to point out that VIRUSES do not mutate because of incorrect ANTIBIOTIC USAGE.

VIRUSES do not respond to ANTIBIOTICS. BACTERIA respond to antibiotics... or become resistant to antibiotics. Not viruses. Which is why antibiotics do not help a cold or the flu... because they are viruses.

There are some of us out here that would LOVE to get the flu shot but we can't because of egg white allergies... if there were a flu shot made one day without egg whites, I would be the first on line to get it.

My sister is in nursing school and has to get the swine flu vaccine and had to sign CRAZY waivers about if something happens in the future she can't sue. That's enough to discourage me from getting any flu vaccine.

I've had the flu. It *****. But you're sick and then you get over it. And hopefully, you lose some weight.

There is no reason for you to be rude to someone just because you do not agree with them and by the way it doesn't make you seem too educated for you to assume that someone has not done research. Y'know, assumptions make a$ ses and all that jazz? Some people have done research and choose not to get flu shots including persons in the medical profession. Furthermore, if you don't want to debate it with those you are putting down, perhaps you shouldn't post comments such as these. It really gives a holier than thou, condescending attitude.
I often swallow my opinions on this board when brides including myself have been insulted but this was just an unwarranted post.
