I don't want to recommend my surgeon because he wasn't very good and I had to go back for another surgery... but I want to say Good Luck! It's not as bad as you think it will be!

I dont have a recommendation for you but I do want to give words hahaha
I know how you feel about being scared, its totally normal. And I'm not going to lie to you, its probably going to get worse before it gets better but once its better, its going to be SOOOO much better. You wont have to deal with the pain EVER!!! So suck it up and deal with the pain for a little bit versus long term!!! You can do it!! We are all here for you!!

I went to one in Great Neck (not sure if thats too far from you or not). His name was Dr. Jay Simoncic. Here is his phone number: (516) 622-7900
He is part of a group and i believe he is a hand specialist (i had carpal tunnel in BOTH hands). I ended up having surgery with a different doctor but he was highly recommended.
Not sure where your pain is located, but another doctor in the group is Dr. Ayal Segal - he is a foot specialist. FH broke his ankle a year ago (almost to date) and needed surgery (screws and a plate) and he did the surgery. FH is now in perfect shape and is back to running and playing sports.
I highly recommend their group...the entire staff is amazing (although they never seem to run on time for appts).
FM if you have any questions
Dont be scared...think of the end result...you being pain free! That is how i got through my 2 surgeries and trust me it is worth it. it may be hard during recovery (trust me i passed out during physical therapy so I know it can be rough) but now I am soooo happy I did it.

I work for an Ortho, but I'm out in Stony Brook. I torn meniscus doesn't necessarily mean you need surgery. Have you had an MRI? It depends on how complex the tear is, you can do PT if its not that severe. Even if it is a complex tear you can do PT to hold off and decide if you want surgery after the wedding. There's really not a brace you would need either but you can certainly ask for something to help stabilize if you're very active. The MRI would be able to determine the severity of the tear. But don't stress just yet - surgery really depends on if you want it or not.

Vero...Goodman reconstructed my Mom's leg after it was shattered. He also did my dad's knee replacement...the 1st one. he's had more than one. He used to be the surgeon for one of the big sports teams.
