They're going to prob have you get another MRI. I would try physical therapy first...or if you really need surgery, the therapy can at least hold you off until you're ready. If you don't mind coming out here let me know & I can get you an appnt. Otherwise don't panic, but def see an ortho - they'll talk about your options. If you def need to have surgery the procedure isn't bad at all. The actual procedure takes about an hour to do and you can be back to work some time the following week. You may need crutches for about 2 days and an immobilizer brace for 2 weeks & you'll do some more physical therapy afterward, but its a very minor procedure and absolutely nothing to worry about! Hope this helps!

Technically, yes. I was never really in pain per se--my knee was just completely unstable because my ACL was torn and I couldn't do any acitivies that involved pivoting or my knee would move out of place (that was EXTREMELY painful.) Now it's like a brand new knee

I don't have any doctors for you but I wanted to say good luck!!!! You should make the appt now because the longer you wait the worse pain you will be in, plus you don't want the injury to get any worse. Take care of it now - the sooner you get it done, the sooner you will feel better!!!

Re: NWR: Orthopedic Surgery... & encouragement!
V...if you have surgery make sure you research and go to the best of the best!!!!
I have torn cartilage in hip. The worst thing I did was go to a dr that was rec'd by someone and the dr was horrible and didnt know what he was doing, told me i had nothing wrong and told me to go take some motrin.
I knew something was wrong so i researched the best orthopedic surgeons
the 2nd one i went to was Dr. Kang he has office in bayshore and NYC he finally diagnosed me by ordering the correct MRI. he specializes in hips and knees. he works at the hospital I work at and the PAs there said good things about him
he said i would need surgery so then i went for 2nd opinion and went to Dr. Brian Kelly at hospital for special surgery in NYC...He is amazing!!! He operates on football and baseball stars! and specializes in hip and knee surgery
I know NYC sounds far, but youre in nassau! I went there from eastern suffolk!!
im telling you go to someone good, especially if you have to have surgery, there are so many risks involved with surgery
I ultimately chickened out and havent had the surgery, too many risks. I decided just to deal with the pain
anyway...please please please do your research and go to a good dr!!

V before I was diagnosed, I was scared too!!!!! The unknown is far worse then the truth and you are really doing a disservice to yourself by not going to the doctor. I know that you are scared and I understand completely, but this is something that you need to do for urself! I am here if you need anything!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: NWR: Orthopedic Surgery... & encouragement!
I also had knee surgery a few years back, also torn menisus. I regret not getting surgery early enough (I had my injusry for 8 months before it was fixed)
I went to Dr. Anne Kelly of Hospital for Special Surgery. Their office is across the street from Nassau Coliseum at 333 Earle Ovington Blvd. She only does surgeries in the city hospital and specializes in knees and elbows only.
I can't recommend her or HSS enough, like LoveyDovey. Many people I know have needed complex orthopedic procedures there, and all of the doctors associated with HSS are top-notch.

My orthopedic is great but he is in stonybrook. Whats going on with your knee? I have knee problems they actually crunch when I walk. But they tell me to do physical therapy. I think surgery would be a last resort.
