Has anyone every had one? I had a sonogram this morning and the dr. just called me and told me I had one and said it's not too abnormal and she's not worried but it's my ovary so naturally, I am worried!

me me i have them!! i get them all the time they are tiny ones theat BURST every month hence the reason ive been o BCP since i was 15.. cuz i kept going to the ER thinking it was my appendex. is really helped its nothing to worry abut supposidly 80% of woman have them and never know

I've had them in the past too- everyone gets them-- some people larger than others- it can be controlled with hormones (the pill) Shouldnt be a biggie! Though they KILL when they burst!!!

my cousin has them - controls them with BCP no problemo!

seriously.. my docotrs call me their science project.. unfortunietly i come from a family with alot of medical issues and i just got a bit of all of them i just learn to laugh at it now an say im 'special'

I have them on my ovaries and in my boobs. I'm just a lumpy person. The ones on my ovaries went away when I was on birth control.

i have them only on my left side..they are common..but one of mine is almost 2 inches in diameter..and my gyno wants to do surgery..i might get scraped..but if i do i might have trouble getting preggers..i have severe endometriosis as well..they say the hardest part will be getting pregnent..i have a 205 chance..but after im 25..its lower

I have had them and currently have one now ...i had surgery back last October if you need a doctor let me know , and if you need surgery i have a surgeon , after they remove the cyst they usually put you on birth control pills after you have kids though they are supposed to go away

I had one as well. It was when I was 17 yrs. old. It was one of the worst experiences ever. I was at work and I had this horrible stabbing feeling in my stomach. It got so bad that later on that day I couldn't even stand up straight. That night my parents took me to the ER. I was in the ER for hours. The ER physician examined me and did blood work...and could not find anything. He was asking me if I have ever had unprotected sex...and at the time I was still a virgin...he told my mom to leave the room and he asked me again without her in the room...I wanted to punch him. I was in excrutiating pain and he kept asking me the same question I said no to!!! Anyway...they admitted me and the next morning took a sonogram and saw that there was a cyst on my ovary. They gave me pain medication and told me to go for another sonogram after my next period. When I got my period that month it was sooo heavy...and not to be all graphic and gross but I was clotting reallllly badly. The doctor said it was the cyst dissolving. Luckily it did go away on it's own.
It is normal to get them...I hope everything goes well. Make sure you are prepared with extra thick pads!!

thanks girls! I think if I need surgery I'll cry, I can't get blood taken without hyperventalating and passing out (exactly in that order).

I've never had them, but from what I read from the other girls and what your doctor said, i would worry too much about it.

jess no worries you dont usually need surgery unless it grows.... and like i said ill take your blood you wont pass out!

My gastrointerologist wants to rule out all the jewish genetic diseases (sickle cell, tay-sachs, etc) because my stomach hates me

i have them...and sometimes they hurt REALLY bad but she said it is nothing to worry about...but i have to keep and eye on my body..
im generally very cystic.
i freaked out for a while though.

gotcha.. really let me reccommend Quest Diagnostic in babylon they are AWEOSME i have this problem of passing out and crying when i get my blood drawn (yes i know sad coming from a phelobotomist/ nursing student) and they are AWESOME!!!! im so comfy going there and its never that bad! tell them you want them that you insist they use a butterfly needle (its alot smaller) i know its a far drive i just know they are GREAT!

ps...if u decrease caffeine it should also help shrink them...(also if you have them in ur boobies)
thats what my gyno said..so i have like zero caffeine in my diet...
cept for that iced caffe mocha from before..i was CRAVIN iced coffee...meanwhile..i never drink it..weird!

p.s. drink LOTS of water before you go even tho they say to fast and not eat or drink anything if you dont drink water you become dehydrated and its sooooo hard to get your veins makes it hurt more so drink lots of water to plump those babies up!!

lol thanks megan I will pump up my veins! I wouldn't get blood taken w/out a butterfly needle, I'd die of pure fear. As it was they took my blood pressure and told me according to the blood pressure reading I should be dead and they made me lay down and then I think they left the room and laughed at me, and I got no juice and no cookies
