NWR: paint vent!

seriously I STINK. . . I picked out all the colors for upstairs. My mom and dad have been painting while I am work - LOVE THEM!

Now, I do like the colors but WOW can they look any different than the paint chips? LIKE COME ON!!

1. i *thought* I picked out a lovely soft yellow. . . um no it is like WOW HELLO MY NAME IS YELLOW AND I WANT TO BLIND YOU WITH MY YELLOWNESS.

2. I thought I picked out a soft burnt orange but no i picked out white. . .which if you put it next to a piece of white paper, turn your head to the side and cough twice - you can KIND OF see some orange in it.

3. I thought I picked out a soft mint green. . . but no actually it is even more white than the burnt orange

4. i THOUGHT i picked out a warm caramel but NO I picked out this cross btw baby vomit and poop. ( this one was for accents and i am no longer using it)

I mean, the colors are growing on me and I know it will look different in a full room but what a bunch of poopie!!

AND this is for a three room apartment, seriously - what I am going to do when i get a house!

oh Tilde - did you not buy samples?



we're in the process of painting my house now - in fact my mother is on the computer right now looking at Color Charts.

I hope you grow to like it Tilde - the sunny yellow will cheer you up on gloomy days!

but HOW can a color say burnt orange and be white... and green and be WHITE?! obiviously white is white....

reminds me of flip this house....
they wanted black but turns out it was a purple black!? but the color said BLACK

last i knew white was white...

Are you sure that they mixed the paint?!?! I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the 'golden yellow' that I picked for our living room was white-- but it hadnt been stirred since we bought it!!!

The colors will grow on you--- it seems like SO much wall now but once you put in furniture and pictures it won't be so overwhelming. I felt the same about my kitchen wall- it's called Chianti-- RED! and it was a lot to take in but I love it now!!! People are always impressed when you use color, i'm sure you'll get tons of compliments! Most people are afraid of color and use all beige! We have Yellow in our LR, Red in our kitchen-- even one Navy blue accent wall in the BR!! people always comment on how 'brave' we are!!

I have that color in my bedroom...lol It was supposed to be a soft tanish yellow, but looks like a freekin sunflower!!

It all depends on type of lighting, how much and even floor color

yeah of course i picked like specially mixed paint that there were no little color samples for so i was going off the fun little online program and the paint chips!

I know it will grow on me - but it is so funny how it all turned out . . . i will definitely post pictures when the third room is done ( the fresh dew//white ) LOL

yeah the paint was all mixed etc. . . i can KIND OF see the green or orange. . . somewhere in there





um christine i dont know how you sleep with that color in your bedroom - it must be like falling asleep in the sun.

my cousins in Italy are using colors like that in their homes and when i have a house i am DEFINITELY doing that!! I can't wait!! I had to use some lighter colors since the rooms are so small but once i get a house I am going to use much bolder colors! can't wait!

I know what you mean about the almost white thing. I just painted my apt. this summer and I did a color called aqua breeze and it kind of looks white. It think after a couple of coats and drying and in the daylight the color will come out. Is the bright yellow for your kitchen? I painted my kitchen bright yellow last year and I looooove it. I am going to do the bedroom in sand. And for the trim? A semi-gloss in what else but...

I have bright green paint in my den. I was so scared when I first started but with the dark brown/beige furniture and otherwise bland colored pictures (im going with a safari/africa theme) it really broke it up.

LOL that is too funny i actually bought a color called Key West Ivory only because we love Key West!

that *****!!! haha but like...i kno nothing bout paint...

hence the walls in my apt are all white..

i love the color descriptions..lol.. u are too funny!!

but i know what you mean.. i've picked out so many colors that wind up being soo far from what i want.. they usually grow on me though! From now on i've decided it's worth it to get the samples... but i never have patience for that!! lol

We are painting right now too and can't decide if we like our red wall... or the yellow... or the blue in the bedroom! I feel you Tilde!!

My parents said to wait a week and see if it grows on you. If not, paint can easily be changed

LOVE LOVE LOVE the colors!!!! i think those are great colors!!!

I want each room of my house to be a different BOLD color when we finally get one!!

i dont know where you bought the paint- but in my experience, sears is the most true to the color samples- so if you decide you hate it- head over there. hth
