Does anyone know of a place in Queens that sells frozen pasteles that I can boil at home?? I usually get them from family or friends but no one really makes them in the summer.

i am going to guess that the best place in queens to get it would be in jackson heights, by roosevelt somewhere around that area. They definitely should have. I know astoria would be real easy for you but not sure which place would have.

or you if you on roosevelt by 82nd street there is one place next to another. I would stick with jackson heights for spanish food, its more authentic rather than some other places.
I am sure if you go into any small place around there, they'll be more than happy to help you out. Maybe stop to get something small such as empanadas at one place(should get them if youre there hahah) and ask them the best place to get, they'll suggest some things hopefully.

There is a a place called La Lechonera on fifth avenue in Brentwood that sells pasteles (cooked) . Usually they have 'PR' ones but occasionally they have 'DR' ones. There also a bodega on 111 that sells them frozen (P.R. woman makes them -- son tan rico!!!) They rice with gandules, bacalao, you name it.
Other than that I've never seen them for sale 'frozen' in a store.

Re: NWR: Pasteles in Queens?
You just got me craving pasteles now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know that you would find them in Jackson Heightssince it's mostly Colombian/South American food around there, but maybe in Corona, but the DR ones not the PR ones. I've only ever had the PR ones when friends mother's have made them..and they are soooo yummy. Also when I've gone to Bklyn around Graham Ave....but it's been forever since I've been out that way.
Good luck in your search. Since I'm out in LI on the weekends I might have to check out FutureMrsCarrieri's recs. If you find any in Queens please let me know!! I'll ask around also...
