NWR: Pet Insurance!

so i'm soooooo bored at work...i was doing research on having my little Lucky's huevitos removed. (for non-spanish speakers--it's nueter time)

well in my boredom i just purchased pet insurance for him. i love a country where you can buy insurance for an animal! LOL anyone else have this?

Re: NWR: Pet Insurance!

We got it when we had our dog Sofia. She has mild hip dysplasia and would have needed surgery. Well holy smokes the surgery cost just as much as a human!!

Honestly, the very small fee you pay a month or yearly, very worth it.

I mean covers a lot, and in the case anything happens to Fido, and we all know our Fido's are worth saving, it really kicks in!!

Now if they only came up with Pet Life Insurance

i have considered it but never got around to getting it - i dont think i can handle any extra expense right now but i think its probably worth it

as for neuter time. . . DO NOT EVER google it or anything - i came across pictures that still give me nightmares. . .

thank god FH took Brutus while I was at work - otherwise I would have been doing the 'super slow motion NOOOOOOOOOooooOOO!!!' RUN into the vet's office and thrown myself across my dog

that being said - he was fine the minute he got home! he wanted to run around and play and he didnt even lick! we actually had to keep him on a leash inside because he wanted to jump around and we thought he would get hurt

in like 2 days you couldnt even tell there was anything there - all that worrying for nothing!

I have pet insurance for my dog. thankfully I haven't needed to use it.

I first got it for the dog I had before. It came in handy a lot for him when he suddenly went blind and they had to run a lot of tests.

I def. think it is worth it.

yes - i've had pet insurance since i brought audrey home when she was still a lil baby of 10 weeks - so about 2 years now.

i am soooooo glad to have it. mine is a bit pricey for pet insurance, but it covers 100% of illness / injury after $50 deductible. and audrey is very mischevious, so she is always giving me a reason to take advantage of the insurance!

that's her in my avatar pic.

lol that would be great!

for $26 a month my kitty will be covered for his vaccinations, nuetering, yearly office visit, heartworm testing/medication, and any illness/injury...up to $11K!!!

plus they throw in one of those identifying tags they put in your animal. i'm kind of excited. let's hope my FH will be too. lol

Re: NWR: Pet Insurance!

Well we would have it but my FH owns his own business (with his Father) and they have a Business network Bartering System. So they barter with a Vet in our town-- so basically we get free Vet treatment in exchange for the Vet getting his car washed whenever he wants. It's awesome and we are very happy to have it.

If we did not have that or when it comes time where Vinny moves on from owning the car wash to another career (he has his sights set on something in the medical field) we will get it. It's definitely SO worth it... my Mom currently gives her cat two shots a day for diabetes and it costs SO much money so if she would have had insurance she would be in good shape-- and now it's too late b/c the cat has a 'pre-existing condition' lol

So that was definitely a good move!!!

yeah the micro ID chip is great!!! Charlotte has one (we got her like that) and they scan her and it beeps and comes up with our info! Just make sure you register your info and keep it updated if your phone number or address changes otherwise when they scan the cat it's useless! HTH!!

that's usually why i have to use it for audrey. she loves to eat everything off the floor and inevitably ends up getting a really upset tummy, but extreme. ie won't eat for days, has bad bathroom problems, etc.

I FM'd you the info...but for everyone else i thought i'd put it here:

Pets Health Plan

But i think if you link from the aspca.org website main page--the company will give the aspca a donation just for giving you a quote! (i love animals so i'm all about that!)

HTH!

We have it for Maxine too and it really does help and if she does any more damage in the house she will really need it

Re: NWR: Pet Insurance!

I WANTED TO DO IT BUT, THE COST OVER THE LIFETIME OF MY TWO CATS WOULD EQUAL ANY EMERGENCY THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN NEEDED. i WAS TOLD THAT PET INSURANCE HELPS ONLY IF YOUR PETS ARE VERY YOUNG, OTHERWISE YOU WOULD PROBABLY SPEND THE SAME AMOUNT ON YOUR PET REGARDLESS OF THE INSURANCE.
