Hi Ladies Was wondering if anyone could offer any advice, tips or ideas. I'm planning a small baby shower (15 ladies at my house) for one of my friends who doesnt really have family here and I know shes not expecting it at all. She's due mid September, so I'm thinking the end of July. I would like to send out the invites by the end of this week - now here is the only thing - she doesnt have a baby registry - I talked to her husband to figure out what she already has and what they reallly need. Is this the best way to do it? And write something in the invite about what she needs, or I was thinking of this ( I dont know how proper this is and I wouldnt want to come off rude) but ask for donation/$gifts, that way I can collect money and go with 2 other girls and get her everything, this will ensure that she doesnt get any doubles. (i know they do something like this in Canada) I dont know how I would feel if I got an invite like this - but I dont know the best way to go around this. What do you ladies think? Any ideas, opinions? I also thought - after her husband gets me a list - make a registry myself (or with him) - is that tooo crazy ? TIA

first off, that is very nice of you! Second, i think it would be a better idea to maybe register for her or have her husband do it. Have fun!

I agree w/ Jeanyus27. You should register for them or ask her husband to help you with it. You can do it online. You can even try to get her family/friend's email addresses from home and let them know what you're doing. They may want to help you a bit and/or send a gift. Do you at least know what she's having?

I agree with registering her or try to have her hubby register.
You could also have a wishing well, that way people can get all the little things for her.

its a decorated water well that people get small inexpensive gifts for (measuring cups, wash cloths, paper towels, etc) and just dump them in for the couple

Wishing wells are usually for bridal showers -- we do a book basket at our showers -- you ask guests to bring a copy of their favorite children's book (sometime in Lieu of a card).
I would register for her with her husband. If you register for things she may not like dont' worry she can return them and get what she does want. Babies R Us has a great return policy.

Buy Buy Baby accepts returns without any receipt. Maybe just tell everyone to buy stuff there so you know you can exchange it easily if need be.

I've seen these at a few baby showers. Essentially people brought bibs, onsies, pacifiers, bottles, bathing stuff for the baby.
Basically it's the same idea for a bridal shower, except for brides they give them wodden spoons, knick knacks for the kitchen, house, etc.

could either of u talk her into registering???
or like maybe plan a few hours to spend together and take her to a baby store etc. (even if it's just to walk around to see things that she likes...so that u can register for her later).
