NWR- politics

NWR- politics

so FH & i watch all of these policitcal conventions & the debates. (we like to be informed voters) in hopeing to keep things from getting crazy on the boards, leaving all political views aside, i was wondering how everyone feels about Palin making her daughter get married.

do you think she is doing it because its the right thing to do (leaving 17 year old girl emotions out of it) or do you think its all just politics?

*i think that its all just about the politics. what type of mother would she be if she let her daughter be a single teenage mom?? its all about her image.

Politics is a very touchy topic...just thinking about it gets me heated...

I didnt hear that she is forcing her daughter to get married...Which news channel did you hear that from?

ETA:
what business of ours is it what goes on in this womans personal life??!! maybe its just me bc today is a grumpy day but how dare anybody put her family, especially a 17 y.o, under that kind of scrutiny...this just infuriates me

She's a republican and conservative... I would assume that's why she's making her daughter get married. How can you be the Republican candidate for Vice President of the USA without holding strict conservative beliefs? This is especially true when your running mate is John McCain.

I don't know how I feel about her or the republican ticket, nor do I know how i feel about Obama or the democratic ticket... As always (for me) it's the lesser of two evils.

I'm not really sure how I feel about her daughter getting married either, they're both 17... so young. I realize the daughter should have taken better precautions against pregnancy, it's different because now it's political. If Palin was just a regular mom she may not have made the children get married.

they said last night at the convention that he will be her future son-in-law. she planned for her to get married prior to the convention taking place & then to kinda smudge how far along the daughter is in her pregnancy.

and i think it is our business because this is who could end up being our vice president, so she could be making decissions on health care issues & choices on if birth control should be an out of pocket expense.

palin is anti birth control, which must have been a topic of conversation that she had with her daughter

I don't think anyone should MAKE their 17 year old daughter get married. I personally think at 17 you're not ready for that kind of life long commitment.... but at 17 you're not really ready for a kid either (i dont mean to knock any young moms).

I wonder how her daughter really feels about the whole thing or if she understands what she's getting into. Her mom wants her to do it for her own political career which I find very selfish. The again I don't know the situation with the daughter and her soon-to-be husband.. maybe they've been together a long time, maybe not.

I understand why she's making her do it, BUT I don't think it's the RIGHT thing to do. It would really make me mad if I were in her daughter's shoes...

Kids should always be left out of the political arena. I understand what you are saying about how it is a reflection of the person, but I still think it's a personal decision.

I don't think she's forcing her to get married for her image. I know PLENTY of teen mothers who were forced to do the 'right' thing. Palin doesn't believe in abortion....at all. I think she is doing what she feels is right for her family. Maybe I'm just naive.

This is the first election that I'm completely torn. It's horrible. I've been a staunch Dem forever. This is the first time I've truly been torn. Don't know if I trust either candidate. Honestly considering writing in Hillary Clinton's name.

Palin definitely has extremely conservative views regarding a woman's choice etc. I was all set to vote for McCain until he chose her. FH tells me that very rarely do VPs get their ideas put through by congress. I don't know. This is such a tough one.

this is going to be the battle of all battles. really think about it, this election will determine a whole lot about how we begin our first couple years of marriage & that scares me.

When I was 17 I was NOT ready for a baby, I’m not ready at 22! I was also not ready to be married. That’s a time to start college and enjoy your friends and fake ID.

Nobody should be forced to get married, it's 2008. How backwards are we?

I agree it's unfortunate that this poor girl is placed under a microscope because her mothers running for ofice. I think she would have been forced to get married either way, sadly. My FBIL got his girlfriend pregnant when they were 19 and their very old fashioned parents forced them to be married. They were divorced a few years after, as expected.

Any woman who doesn't believe that safe sex should be taught in school is a disgrace in my opinion. Needless to say- Bring it home Obama!

Here's my issue... John McCain just had his 78th birthday. So to back McCain I have to back Palin completely because odds are she'll be running the country in a year or two.

On the other side, I like Biden but I'm on the fence about Obama.

I was ready to get behind Hillary but she just couldn't get it done... yet.

Needless to say all of us shouldnt say on here who we are voting for...bc if we want to get into that this board can turn into major drama fest.

There are alot of different opinions about this electiona nd i think we should all just keep them to ourselves...
The only opinion that we should be sharing with each other is how we dont want to have a president who wont be able to handle anything and get NY blown up....
Everything else lets just keep to ourselves..

and btw for the people who are only voting to 'make a change' look into the facts first and dont make stupid votes based on some popular idea that its time to be different and make history...

.

John McCain is only 72. And I was all about Hillary....she had the popular vote...that stupid delegate wreaked havoc once again. That is such an antiquated system that needs to be removed. I don't need someone placing my vote for me. It should be a majority rule, not me voting for someone who SAYS they are going to vote for my candidate. Ridiculous.

this year FH & i & both of our families are fully involved in politics. same with us & our friends. we even spoke to my 7 year old nephew about it. & explained to him in simple terms whats going on & to be honest he came up with a lot of great answers to what he wants most in a president. he even told FH that he should be president. lol.
