NWR- politics

Original post by christine2010

so FH & i watch all of these policitcal conventions & the debates. (we like to be informed voters) in hopeing to keep things from getting crazy on the boards, leaving all political views aside, i was wondering how everyone feels about Palin making her daughter get married.

do you think she is doing it because its the right thing to do (leaving 17 year old girl emotions out of it) or do you think its all just politics?

*i think that its all just about the politics. what type of mother would she be if she let her daughter be a single teenage mom?? its all about her image.

i don't think anyone is pushing views on anyone. everyone is entitled to voice their opinions on any issues they want.

I don't really like talking politics, its a very touchy subject.

But I will say this, at 17 and pregant, your in a tough world. She has no college education and will be married. Her mother should be helping her through this very difficult time but instead she is too concerned with her career. Remember, family always comes first.

yeah, politics is definitely a touchy subject for many. it's never brought up in my home.....oh bad news if you bring it up.

I can't discuss it in my house either. I'm the only dem in the family it seems and anytime I bring about a point (or fact) that that they don't agree with they will just tell me I'm wrong until their blue in the face. I don't bother anymore, I just sit out of the conversations. It's like you're telling someone the sky is blue and they are telling you & insist that it's green.

Just thought I'd pipe in on this ONE thing... nowhere at all did anyone say or imply in the news coverage of anything that Palin is MAKING or FORCING her daughter to get married. I believe her words were that she is proud of her daughter and that while she and her future husband will have more difficulties than they really should in the coming years, that their family will support them.

At least she really is sticking to her stated beliefs about being against abortion and not pushing her daughter to opt for one in secret given that it would be the more convenient solution - politically and privately - and might not have gotten out then.

This is from a New York Times article on Sept. 1, 2008

The Palins said that Bristol, who was named for Bristol Bay, the salmon fishery, would marry a man they identified only as Levi, later confirmed to be Levi Johnston, a Wasilla resident. “Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family,” the statement said.

Seriously do you have to keep trying to prove your point? We get that you dont like Palin, enough...

This is a wedding forum, not a political forum...

i was just supporting what i was saying. i do realize that this is a website used to chat about weddings but no where does it say that you can only chat about weddings

Re: NWR- politics

exactly this is a wedding forum and yes you can chat about things other than weddings...but its not cool to cram your opinion down other peoples throat about government issues.
