NWR: POLL - Is this wording tacky?

NWR: POLL - Is this wording tacky?

Sorry ladies - seems like I post more about baby showers lately than I do about weddings!

Anyways, my BFF lives in CO, is having a baby in early Oct. , will be visiting in mid-Aug & we're having a shower for her. We're going to add an insert to the invite re: her registry. The thing is we want to let people know not to bring gifts since it will be hard for her to travel home with them. Does this sound tacky & if so, could you please help me come up with a better wording? Thanks!

Susan is registered at Babies “R” Us,
but in an effort to keep her journey home easy &
stress-free, we’d like to ask those wishing
to bring gifts to please either pick up a gift card,
order online or contact her local store in Colorado to
place the order over the phone.*

Babies “R” Us contact info

Thank you!

*By placing the order over the phone you will save on shipping & handling fees!

i think you worded perfectly - it doesnt sound tacky at all, you are looking out for her best interests and it sounds very 'politically correct'

I don't think it sounds tacky either. I think it's very nicely worded.

I would normally not ask for gift cards but I can see your reasoning behind it. I think everyone else would understand also- so with that in mind I think it is worded perfectly!!!! Great job!!!!

I think that's lovely! Not tacky at all!
Can you add the contact information for her local store, since some people might not know it offhand!

No, I think its great! people will understand that she's traveling....

I did something simialr with my SIL's bridal shower... she came up from florida for it so most did gift cards or shipped gifts....

the only negative to it was that she didn't have much to open at her shower, so make sure you have some fun things to do and at least a few gifts to open,

ETA: one BM printed out pics and made a little booklet of what people got her (those that she knew who bought what) and of other things off the registry) so she could look at those... and the old ladies liked to see what she had registered for. it was a cute idea!

No, it's not tacky. The whole point of a shower is to get presents, so there's nothing wrong with telling people that it would be hard for to take them home. They probably know that anyway and were wondering what to do.

I think it's worded very well! I may have to copy you when it comes time for us throw my sister's shower - she lives in Miami.

Thank you all so, SOO much! We've been back & forth on whether or not we should do something like this, but the thought of her trying to lug all of her gifts home on the plane by herself (her hubby can't make it) at 7 1/2 months really made the decision for us. We would feel worse if we didn't say something! You've all eased my mind though - we're going to go ahead & add that note. Thanks again!!

We're definitely going to add all of the store info in the middle part there - I just took it out to shorten it a bit. Thanks!

I LOVE this idea! We'll try to do that & we'll make sure that we have plenty to do to keep things going - thanks for the tips!
