My sister just called me - shes a stonybrook university student - a gunman was reported on campus...he ran out of the SAC and went towards harriman Hall.....little is known.
Incase anyone has anyloved ones there or is going there...there is an alert on the SBU webpage. I thought I would pass it along to you girls. CHeck out new12 too..

What is wrong with people??? Why do people feel the need to take innocent lives?! If you want to kill yourself, fine. But why take innocent others and destroy dozens/hundreds of lives??? I just dont understand this world we're living in now. We now have to fear doing simple routine thinsg such as going to school. HORRIBLE!!!!!!!

i agree. if your gonna kill yourself - go ahead. don't bring a gun to school just to shoot at random people. I cannot believe we live in a time where this type of stuff happens so often. so sad

so scary - my sister was there and just decided to leave. she was in the building right next to the one the man was supposidly in. once it was 'all clear' she was out of there - there were still helicopters all over so better to leave than take any chances

my FH is there right now...he is on there call list when there s an emergency...the college sends out mass text messages in case of anything...the first message states that there is a gunman on campus and the next one said that there was a man who attemoted to rob the cafe in one of the buildings and showed a gun and ran away...not sure if they caught him, but the campus has reopened after they held a press conference to decide whethere they should reopen or not...FH said that the campus has more cops than usual around tonight...but all seems ok now...thank God

i really hate the fact we have a lax security on campus but we are mostly a commuter college so people feel safer since mnay people do not hang around on farmingdale.
I hope for the best. I really feel bad since many adminstration people will be up for SUNYDAY which is tomorrow they really cuts on faculty to handle such things.
