nwr- Present for FH

Ok so FH hasn't started the new job yet, and last month he pretty much said that we weren't gonna do xmas presents because we wouldn't have any money, and I totally understood. We didn't get into a big discussion over it, I figured I didn't want to embarrass him.

Fast forward to this week and he's like so what do you want for Xmas? My reply was umm I thought we weren't doing it this year? And he had no idea what I was talking about. FH LOVES LOVES LOVES Xmas ( I really don't care for the holidays) and so now he wants to celebrate when Im' home next week. Even though I don't really like holidays I LOVE giving presents and typically put a lot of thought into them... now apparently I need to get him a present for next week!

Originally I was going to get him the new rock band, or a few other gifts for him to entertain himself before we decided no gifts, but now he said he wants stuff for work, ie: shirts/ties/tie tacks, any of that good stuff. I have no idea what his new formal work clothes look like so I'm worried I'll get something that clashes. I'm not good at picking out formal work wear... Any good ideas for gifts for a new professional?

I know! thats so true... but whats funny is my parents just sent him a pen to congratulate him on passing his licensing exams! It has his name on it and everything.

I also wanted to give him a nice frame with a picture of the two of us, but apparently he will be sharing the office with another new guy so I don't think they'll be putting personal effects in there just yet.

Red envelope is a really great site for some stuff, but its expensiveeeeeee

My FH is really into this kind of stuff. What about a nice watch, nice dress shoes, cuff links, business card holder, a belt, a Hugo boss dress shirt and matching tie( a sales person can help you pick out a basic one) .. A wool jacket for work. A gift card to get a custom made dress shirt..

I was totally thinking about a business card holder! And i saw a really nice one online awhile back, and now I can't find any that I like.

I don't know what your budget is for the gift but if he is looking for work clothes - go to Brooks Brothers - they also have the outlet out in Riverhead and in Woodbury Commons - they sell the wrinkle-free shirts and they are amazing - no need to iron - FH swears they are a lifesaver in the morning when he is rushing around to make the train - HTH & Good luck!

You might check out www.personalizationmall.com to see if you like anything on there. I got FH these monogrammed cufflinks for Chanukah last year. He wears them all the time!

(edited to fix link)

Thats a GREAT idea!

Awesome I'll look into that site, AND i kept tooling around the Brooks Brothers website but our internet here is sooo slow it was hard to use. But my best guy friend loves that store so I'll bet I can find something good.

how about a custom made shirt? i know a tailor that measures him and makes a shirt, you have to pick the color/material... He can also have your initials sewn on the sleeve, looks very nice.

FM if you want more info...it can range from about $100 though.....

Thanks for the ideas girls! I wish I had more money and I would have went all out...
.Collar Stays

Tie Clip

I also plan on getting him a frame from pier 1 when i get back ANNNDDD

Ok have you ever heard about those companies where you can go in and like pre-make meals and store them in your freezer?

Well I love to cook, but I don't want to go through the hassle of finding recipes, food shopping and cooking a bunch of meals for FH, so I'm going to this place called Dinners done right, in 2 hours I can make like a bunch of meals and freeze them, so FH just has to take them out of the freezer. I LOVE it. I wanted to do it before I let but I had like no time. When he gets home late he doesnt' take care of himself so I figured this is a diff way to pitch in.

I also bought him a pair of Thule Greenland Sweatpants! Lol man once I got started I wanted to buy EVERYTHING!!! Maybe this is making up for the fact that I haven't bought anything for the wedding yet!
