NWR-Proud of myself

Woo hoo! At this moment, I have a 0 balance on my credit card account.
I've been chippping away little by little and I finally made the last payment today. It feels so good! AND I switched to a 'rewards' program so I can get airfare miles, etc, on any future purchases. I also got them to lower my interest rate. It's amazing what happens when you ask for things.

Since the wedding planning and budgeting, I've been more aware of my spending and saving habits. I even bought Jean Chatzky's new book 'Make Money Not Excuses' and it's really helpful.

FH and I haven't had to use credit for any wedding purchases and we're trying to keep it that way, but it's nice to have a zero balance and a lower interest rate just incase--not to mention rewards.

WOW!! congrats! can i live vicariously thru you.... what is that like to have a 0 balance?!?!!?

Haha! I took some money out of my savings acct to do it (we have a separate wedding acct that I refuse to touch for 'non-wedding' stuff).
In the book I read, Jean said what's the sense of carrying a credit card balance at 18-19% interest when you have the money sitting in the bank earning a measly 3%. In the long run it saves me money to pay it down now.
I really recommend the book . There's a lot in there on managing finances with your partner.

I'm doing that with my card too........I WAS making payments (little at a time) but now......they are huge chunks........it's a great feeling!!!!
