So FH and I were supposed to be running errands when we decided to stop in Shake A Paw.... Bad move!!!! We fell in love with a boxer and there is no way we can afford $1,800 on a puppy. But now im in such a funk. We decided we def want a boxer but we dont want a mutt. Idk how we will ever afford a little boxer puppy.

FH and I recently did the same thing!!!! We fell in LOVE with an adorable puggle puppy from shake a paw. She was $1200, and we just couldnt afford that. We ended up finding a puppy on Puppfind.com He was $500 (including shipping). I was against shipping at first, but BFFs 2 sisters are vet techs and they agreed that at such a young age he would be fine. He is perfect and completely healthy!! Definitely recomment this site!

Ahhhh. Good point... But doesnt she work with older dogs?? Since we have 2 young kids we feel more comfortable bringing a puppy in the house.

Re: NWR: puppy
This is why I cannot go into pet stores. I had a boxer, my ex kept him, then gave him away That was over 6 yrs ago. I miss him sooooooo much, he was my baby. So I tell FH that if we were ever to get a puppy, it'd have to be a boxer. They are such wonderful dogs. $1800 is a lot of money, IMO. I know this does not help at all. Sorry!

Re: NWR: puppy
Shake a paw has been cited, fined and sued so many times i cant believe theyre still open. Were you in lynbrook? I grew up there. All their puppird come from mills... Most from pa and bred by the amish who suck. The have no ofa testing and would never be accepted in any showing. All their bloodlines are questionable.
Boxers are cute, silly and funny dogs. Linkin is a boxer mix. They tend to like kids and can be a bit wild and rambunctious but w some training theyre awesome.
I have nothing against a real respected and recommended breeder. I had a purebred husky whose dad was a show dog.
Anyway a real akc approved breeder will do ofa testing and only has litters to better the breed. They rarely have more than 1 or 2 a year and thats only if theyre showing lots of dogs. I know a westminster breeder who hasnt had a litter in 4 years.
If you really want a purebred boxer let me know. Ill help you find a good breeder. Dont jump to get a puppy bc theyre cute. Dogs live 10-15 years and you dont want a dog w health issues etc.

You could get a full breed at a shelter! Don't buy from a puppy mill. Although those dogs need saving too.

I think we are animal soul mates lol. FH and I will have to contact you when we decide to get a dog if we don't go to the pound (I'm more of a stray cat person).

Re: NWR: puppy
2012er crashing. I also do animal rescue. You can find pure breed dogs at the shelter. Look at petfinder.com. The shelter I use to volunteer with had a liter of pure breed Boxer pups this summer.
Make sure you do your research before you get a particular breed. You will find that there are ALOT of Boxers (and boxer mixes in the shelter). The reason is that Boxers are not a lazy/easy dog. They are very high energy. I know the puppy is cute but make sure you are up for a high energy dog!
that is my 2cents.
DONT SHOP ADOPT!
