Does anyone know anything about them? FI and I went there today just to look and found a puggle that we absolutely love. I checked puppy depot on the internet and several reviews were bad but I know a girl and she has had no problems with their puppy. Anybody know anything about them good or bad???

Re: NWR Puppy Depot in Coram
i got a puppy there years ago with an exboyfriend...the dog had a severe bacterial infection and had to be hospitalized for 10 days with iv antibiotic treatment. they paid for all of the treatments because the puppies are covered under the lemon law...but i would stay away. i think they are puppy mill puppies and after the experience i had, i would never buy there again.
hope that helps...good luck getting a puppy!!!

NEVER EVER buy from pet stores.... While I was in college I used to help out with animal rescue online and pet stores almost always get their dogs from puppy mills...trust me you do not want to support these people! Definitely go through a reputable breeder!

Re: NWR Puppy Depot in Coram
Although I agree with all of these posts 110%, my mom actually got her maltese from the puppy place in Port Jeff (not sure if they are still in business), and there were TONS of bad things about that store...even 7 on your side was involved with something that happened there. However, my mom went in there just to look and said that the dog looked so sad, she felt awful and bought the dog on the spot - I guess in her mind she was saving the dog. Thank goodness she hasn't had any problems with her.

That's how I feel. Now with all the bad stuff being said I feel like I have to save him. He was just so cute and had the saddest eyes and normally I would never buy a puppy ( all of my pets have come from north shore animal league) but I just want him so badly. In fact if I could I would take all of them home with me. That is why I usually never go into pet stores because I feel so bad for all the puppies and want to adopt them all. Of course we already have a dog so we only have room for one more dog.......or my house will look like a farm!

I can totally understand (I feel the same way). Unfortunately when we buy from pet stores all we are doing is putting money into the pockets of people that abuse these dogs...reputable breeders would never sell their dogs to a puppy store so mills is where they get these dogs. Think of the poor dogs still stuck at the mills living most of their lives in a little cage having litter after litter...its soo sad and a horrible circle...

I agree-breeders are the best places for pups.-Yes these animals do come from puppy mills-but when you look at it another way-they KILL them when we don't buy them!!!!!!! They don't want adult dogs there-they want puppies. My family owns pet stores-and we have had many people who have worked in these places tell us about how they murder the dogs!!!!!!!! We don't want to support them-but then again we don't want these amazing animals to die. We don't sell puppies b/c we would have to get them from puppy mills-no reputable breeder will sell their pups to a pet store to be sold. Just make sure you have the puppy vet checked right away. Good Luck!

I agree. Many times the puppies are from puppy mills where they are mistreated and have medical problems. It's always best to buy from a breeder when you can.

I totally see everyone's point about puppy stores, but....
we got our beagle from one. DH's stepmom got her yorkies from the same store and has had no problems. Maggie is an amazing puppy, really sweet and well behaved. She is on the tiny side, so she may have been the runt, but she is such an amazing puppy, I couldn't imagine our life without her!

Please DO NOT support puppy mills. Adopt a puppy from a reputable breeder or shelter.
You DO NOT wanna know how these pet stores get their dogs.

Thats how they stay in business... they make you think youre RESCUING the sad thing. Why do you think they are sad in the first place??
I have written COUNTLESS letters to senators of states w/ puppy mills. Ofcourse i have gotten NO responses but i will write again and again.

I agree that buying a puppy from a store is not a good idea. These puppies do come from mills and you do not want to support the BEASTS that run them. Honestly...if you have ever seen the documentaries on these mills, it is horrifying! Dealing Dogs on HBO was an undercover documentary about a notorious mill in Arkansas and even though it was hard to watch, I'm glad I'm informed about it. I would contact a reputable breeder. I'm a dog lover and I know that you feel you want to save these poor puppies but the end result is that the SAVAGES that run these mills are making millions off of compastionate people like ourselves. And it enables them to continue what they do. I'm sorry to preach - I know it's a tough decision, you just want to save the poor little thing ( and puggles are so cute!). Even if you do end up buying from the store, I know you have the best intentions...it's such a tough spot to be in...thats why I never go into the puppy stores!

That documentary broke my heart. It is 'On Demand' on HBO (in case anyone wants to check it out)...I could not BELIEVE human beings can be so cruel.
