NWR: Puppy update

Original post by FutureLW

So I posted last week that the puppy that FH and I have been patiently waiting on from the breeder was finally born... Well, I got a call from the breeder last night that the only boy puppy in the litter (which was supposed to be ours) died on Saturday. I'm so sad I feel silly because I never met the puppy and wasn't attached but I was just so excited about getting him

That is so sad, but is unfortunately common. I'd be upset too.

My wedding donation was to the Little Shelter on Warner Road in Huntington/Elwood area. They took me on a private tour and seriously had such adorable dogs, and plenty of boy dogs just waiting for a home. Pure breeds too, the woman giving me the tour pointed to a little Pomeranian and actually said 'It's amazing, people will throw away anything'.

Their website is great and posts a lot of pictures, you should check it out.

That is so sad, sorry!! My friend went through a similar thing with a dog at a breeder, he wound up becoming uncomfortable with the breeder he was working with and had to abandon the process with that breeder so he lost the dog he thought he was going to get, it was sad... but he found another breeder and got a dog he loves now.

I had a female german shepherd, who was very mushy and VERY protective, she was amazing and fierce and loving so don't always thing the females will be so different from the males. My female chihuahua I have now is more protective than my male hound dog (4x her size). And I would also recommend looking at a shelter, you could fall in love, it's worth just going to one to look around. Good luck and sorry this happened!!

See for us it's total opposite! I have a female pit bull mix and a male collie mix. The male is fixed and the female is not. All signs point to the female being aggressive and protective, right?! WRONG! The male is the protective one, he's the one who refuses to share food, he's the one who growls at strangers. To be perfectly honest, my female pit has never growled ever. I don't even know what it would sound like if she did! It goes against all the rules of nature, but she is an advocate for her breed!
