Hi brides! I was hoping that you may be able to help me with something. I am currently in a masters program for childhood ed and was hoping to start teaching this fall. Since I am not certified I am pretty sure that I would only be able to teach in a Catholic school. This is no problem for me as I am veteran of Catholic education myself. I am just curious about how to go about applying for jobs. Do I just fill out the diocese application and hope to hear, or do I just send my resume to a bunch of schools and hope for the best? Any advice is appreciated! Many thanks in advance!

Re: NWR - Question for Catholic School Teachers
i would send out as many resumes as possible but you can also sub even though you are not certified.. look on olasjobs.org not every school district will hire you but there are a few that will as long as youre in a program getting your certification. (west islip will hire you.)

Re: NWR - Question for Catholic School Teachers
go to the diocese of rockville centre website. you can request the application and they will send you one in the mail. they will have a general interview for you sometime in the spring. in order for a school to hire you, you must have been pre approved by the diocese. any other questions, feel free to FM me.

Re: NWR - Question for Catholic School Teachers
Just wanted to say that most Catholic schools will still only take certified teachers. I was looking for a job this past spring/summer and not only did the Catholic schools want certification...they also wanted experience.

you are right about the certification. i left that part out of my first post
if you aren't certified, you can try the Archdiocese of NY. they hire non-certified teachers.

Re: NWR - Question for Catholic School Teachers
There's a ton of private religious schools in Queens that hire non-certified teachers. My FH teaches in one and we have friends who teach in others and they're working there until they get certified.
