NWR: Question for teachers

So I was just talking to a counseler about getting my masters degree which I want to get in TESOL but somehow it never occurred to me that I would need my teacher's certification for NYS. The counseler said I could attain it on my own and still take the program (I have a bachelors in english) I am looking up how to do that online but Im just getting more and more confused. Is this even possible or do you have to get an education degree?? She said I didnt need to and I get do my masters in education.
Does anyone know anything that could help me??

I dont know what TESOL is but you can get your masters in education and be a teacher and ny certified.

I applied to the TESOL programs at Queens College and Stony Brook University . I am certified in Music Education so I would have been in the program for current teachers if I had gone, but I do think that most education based masters programs offer specific programs for those already certified and those who need certification...what schools were you looking at?
